This Tuesday on NXT, we have a huge six man tag team match, one which very well might be the main event of the episode. On one side, we have a steady unit in Legado Del Fantasma. Santos Escobar, Raul Mendoza, and Joaquin Wilde. Their opponents are KUSHIDA & MSK, all of whom are champions. KUSHIDA is the reigning NXT Cruiserweight Champion, while Wes Lee & Nash Carter are the NXT Tag team Champions. However, their union goes deeper than just being champions, and links back to a common friend in Alex Shelley.
KUSHIDA Will Fufill A Promise To An Old Friend
Taking to Twitter ahead of this match, KUSHIDA would explain to the world why he’s so excited to team up with MSK, and it involves Alex Shelley.
“About a half year ago, my long time friend Alex Shelley sent me a text message. He told me that a great new tag team was coming to the NXT. He said they have a lot of potential, and he asked me to take good care of them. When MSK arrived to the NXT, they made an immediate impression on me. And I understood why Alex Shelley spoke so highly of them. In my opinion, they have the potential to change tag team history. They remind me of some of the other great teams that I have worked with over the years. This Tuesday, I will have the opportunity to fulfill my promise.”
Wes Lee would reply with a quick #MSKushida coming in hot on Tuesday, while Nash Carter has yet to respond to this praise from KUSHIDA. MSK made their debut in NXT as part of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, and really are a game changing team for the brand with their blink and you’ll miss it style.
MSK vs. Timesplitters?
A potential dream match came to light after this tweet, one which could happen soon provided NXT reaches out to Shelley. KUSHIDA & Shelley have wrestled in NXT as The Timesplitters, Shelley’s only WWE appearance to date. Timesplitters are a great tag team, even with a few years of rust on them. Putting them in the ring on a Takeover with MSK with the belts on the line? That would be the recipe for an instant classic.
Shelley is a free agent, and Triple H showed that he doesn’t mind working with the tag team legend in short bursts to bring the fans great matches. Could you see him returning for another match alongside KUSHIDA? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
