Prince Philip has sadly passed away at the age of 99, which has capped off a difficult period for the Royal family.
Shock!! Prince Philip Has Passed Away Aged 99
Philip had been in turbulent health for some time, as he was hospitalised very recently for approximately a month. Although he was released and advised to recuperate at home, the palace announced that he was no longer alive. In an official statement, the Royals said: “It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen has announced the death of her beloved husband.
“His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle.” The passing could not have come at a worse time for the Royals. They have been dealing with the aftermath of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s interview, which has led to severe backlash on both sides. And yet, the sudden death of Philip is hardly going to make things any easier.
In particular, Meghan may be at the centre of the firing line. She was criticised heavily for the timing of the interview, given that it had coincided with Philip’s hospitalisation. While there is nothing to suggest that Meghan’s conduct had put a further strain on Philip’s health, her critics will continue to drive home that point.
Moreover, the passing will add additional stress on Harry— given he was due to arrive in the UK later this year. Although that was to commemorate a statute being erected in honour of his mother, there were plans for him to go and see Philip. Despite the apparent anguish that the Royals are feeling, this could be the perfect opportunity to patch things up.
With the whole family in mourning, the only thing that would seem to unite them is their admiration of Philip. He was, after all, remembered as a jovial man. In a previous interview, Prince William spoke on how he brought a smile to people’s faces. He said: “He makes her [Queen Elizabeth II] laugh because some of the things he says and does.
“And the way he looks at life is obviously slightly different than her, so together they’re a great couple.” With Philip no longer here, Queen Elizabeth II will need all the support she can get. This may be the incident that brings the Royals back together.
