WWE News: Sami Zayn Pitched For Match With WWE Hall Of Famer

Sami Zayn revealed on social media over the weekend that he pitched for a match against a WWE Hall of Famer back in 2019. However, the match never materialised, and therefore didn’t happen.

But, it would seem as though all hope has not yet been lost, and there could still be a chance for the two to go up against each other at SummerSlam in 2022. However, could there still be a chance that the match could happen or was Zayn just teasing with fans on social media?

WWE News: Zayn Reveals He Pitched A Match

Zayn revealed during an exchange with a fan that he had pitched the idea of potentially taking off X-Pac at one of the biggest shows of the year a couple of years ago. It wouldn’t have been the first time that the two would have shared the ring, as the famously battled on the King of Trios card in the past.

I asked if I could wrestle him at Summerslam two years ago.@TheRealXPac, that is. Not the other guy. https://t.co/6nca8NgzD2

Zayn’s post certainly caught the imagination of fans, as they immediately began questioning whether the match could happen. However, X-Pac did eventually reply to the comments, and it’s fair to say that he left the door firmly open should the WWE be looking to go down that route. The Hall of Famer admitted that the match would interest him, but he first needs to overcome some health problems that he has had over the past couple of years.

I had a few health/injury issues that needed addressing at that time. Now that I've taken care of them, there's always next #SummerSlam…if that's something people want to see. #wwe https://t.co/Vi4EDorGEO

    WWE News: Could It Happen?

You can never say never in the WWE, but the match between the two would seem like a long shot. However, the chances of it happening would likely hinge on the fans interest in seeing the bout. X-Pac would first need to get cleared to take the match, which could be an issue given the injury issues that he alluded to in his message on social media.

It would certainly be another big match for Zayn if it did happen, as he recently competed in a match at WrestleMania against Kevin Owens. The two superstars were joined at ringside by Logan Paul, who eventually ended up being hit by a Stunner to send the crowd in attendance wild. It could be likely that Zayn and Owens could battle once more at the upcoming PPV, as they clashed on SmackDown last Friday to continue their rivalry.
