Right now, The Acclaimed are the number three ranked tag team in AEW. That could change tonight, as they face off with the undefeated duo of Jon Moxley & Eddie Kingston in tag team action, who are ranked four. With Double or Nothing right around the corner, Kingston & Moxley are keen on getting their shot at The Young Bucks and the AEW World Tag Team Championships. A win over a team like The Acclaimed will go a long way in getting them to that step.
Renee Young Wants The Acclaimed For Some Oral Sessions
This week, Jon Moxley would come out to another version of Wild Thing. The Troggs are gone, and now we have the version from Major League. We’ll have to see if this actually sticks this time. On their way to the ring, Caster would drop a new diss track on Moxley & Kingston, which took shots at Kingston dressing like it’s 2004, and Moxley’s wife in his DM’s for some Oral Sessions.
Before they even reached the ring, Caster got punched in the jaw before Kingston went to work on him in the ring. Moxley would tag in and hit a double shoulder tackle, before stomping Caster into the corner. Caster would be hit with a knee strike in the corner, before Kingston dropped him with an STO before having his ear bitten.
Kingston nailed a suplex, before gouging the eyes of Caster and tagging in Moxley. Caster was driven into a neutral corner for some chops, and he tried to save his face before taking a clubbing blow to the spine. Kingston went to the top rope, and Caster got him with a throat chop before hitting a dragon screw to take him to the mat.
Caster would grapevine the leg as he reached out for a tag, and Bowens was able to tag in. They would stomp out the hurt leg of Kingston, and taking away the vertical base of a striker like Kingston would allow them to isolate him. Even as he regained some ground in the ring, Bowens would just go after the knee with a chop block and nail another Dragon Screw before applying The Price of Fame.
Jon Moxley & Eddie Kingston
Moxley would be there to save his partner from having to tap out, but Kingston was on his own fighting off a double team in the corner of The Acclaimed. Bowens had a flatliner set up, and was thrown into Caster on the top rope to stun them both. Moxley would be able to tag in, and nailed a release German Suplex, King King Lariat and a piledriver on Caster.
Bowens tried to get involved, but Moxley applied a sleeper hold and had him stumble off the apron. Caster would be pulled into the corner of The Acclaimed, and Bowens was able to tag in. The Acclaimed hit a vertical suplex/crossbody combo, but Kingston made the save.
Moxley would get Bowens in the sleeper hold as he went to the corner to tag in Kingston. They’d set up Violent Crown, but Caster tripped Moxley up as he went for the lariat. Caster would thrown Bowens his chain, and as the referee dealt with that, Caster wanted to use the boombox. Moxley stopped this, and hit a combo Paradigm Shift for the win.
Kingston & Moxley are really getting their footing as a tag team in AEW, and this win over The Acclaimed will do a lot to help build their image. It was solid back and forth action, and a tag team setting really showcases how good Kingston is at selling an injury. Match Rating: /5 ()
