There is little room to deny that Roman Reigns is at his absolute best at the moment in WWE. Ever since his return at WWE Payback 2020 when he became the WWE Universal Championship. Since then, he’s had main event level matches with Jey Uso, an epic trilogy with Kevin Owens, and forced Daniel Bryan off of Smackdown Live and perhaps out of WWE.
His latest opponent to step up and fall was Cesaro, who lost at Wrestlemania: Backlash via referee stoppage. Now, fans have a question of who could possibly face Roman Reigns on the coming PPV events. A few options stand out, and could carry Reigns through until Summerslam.
Jimmy Uso Is Set To Have The Same Feud As Jey Uso
The next feud for Roman Reigns is set up to be another family affair. When he first entered his Tribal Chief character, Reigns had to beat the respect into Jey Uso. Now, Jimmy Uso is back in WWE after a long time off with an injury, and showing the same defiance as Jey showed.
With fans coming back to WWE soon, we can mainly expect them to tread water until we get there. Going back to the same feud that WWE held with Jey & Roman, especially as it got good reviews at the time is a safe bet, and would get WWE through Hell in a Cell with Reigns, before a proper opponent returns.
Edge Has Unfinished Business
We can expect to see fans back in WWE arenas again around the middle of July, which is where Money in the Bank is set to come around. While the titular ladder match is always the main draw of an event like Money in the Bank, a big title match wouldn’t hurt. Since Wrestlemania 37, Edge has been laying low, but he still wants his one on one shot at Roman Reigns.
This would be an easy storyline for WWE to throw together, and could possibly come in with a stipulation like Edge can’t challenge for the Universal Championship again if he loses. WWE wanted to do this match at Wrestlemania, but Daniel Bryan was added in before the match happened. It maybe wasn’t deemed Wrestlemania levels of big, but Money in The Bank is a great venue for this match.
Who Knows Roman Reigns Better Than Seth Rollins
The last potential opponent on tap for Reigns is an old ally and rival. Seth Rollins has been around on Smackdown Live for a while, and finally starting to bump heads with Reigns as of late. While both are currently on the heel side of things, the soonest fans see them battling is Summerslam.
That is a long time in WWE, and things could change dramatically especially as live crowds return. Rollins has always leaned more towards being a fan favorite and that could again become the case when he’s in front of a live crowd on a consistent basis again. Reigns & Rollins have always been incredible together, and with rumors of Summerslam being at Madison Square Garden? It’s a fitting stage for their latest clash.
