Israel Adesanya had the opportunity to be a coach on ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ reality show, but the champion said no.
When Dana White and UFC announced that ‘TUF’ would be back many were anxious to know who the coaches would be. In the end, it ended up being Alexander Volkanovski and Brian Ortega. However, according to Adesanya, he was offered to coach the show against Britain’s Darren Till, but, the champ said no for a couple of reasons.
Israel Adesanya explains why he refused to do TUF 29 with Darren Till
In a recent podcast appearance, Israel Adesanya, talked about his reasons for not agreeing to be on the show.
“I’ll tell you one thing, there’s a new season of ‘TUF’ with my friend, Alex Volkanovski training, it’s going to be great. I think episode 3 is coming out this week. They offered it to me and Darren Till, and right away I said no. Personally, I don’t want cameras in my face that much, I don’t want to be stuck in Vegas for that long.”
“I mean, what does it take to make good reality tv? Drama, lots of drama and I’m a troll, Darren is a troll. I feel like I would have to the lowest of my being. The jokes that they would play, I could go lower. And people wouldn’t understand, I go down the high road a lot, but, when it’s time to go down, I go all the way to limbo.”
There’s no doubt that if Adesanya and Till had been ‘TUF’ coaches, it would have been a must-see TV show. They would have had an incredible exchange of words and constant banter, but it never came to fruition. However, both Adesanya and Till have made it known that they will fight someday. When they do, the preamble will be full of trash talk and banter.
