Over the last seven years, WWE NXT has seen a lot of changes. Talent came and went, they moved from developmental to the proper third brand of WWE, and even moved to two hours. However, one thing has always been consistent. That has been the general manager, William Regal. He’s been there through thick and thin, and while NXT has never been the best controlled brand, lately it’s been chaos. With him having fully lost control after one of the most chaotic Takeovers in history, he feels it’s time for a change.
William Regal Has Lost Control Of His Brand
In the closing moments of NXT Takeover: In Your House, Mackenzie Mitchell would catch up with Regal to get his thoughts on the show. He’d just look tired, and say he’s never seen bedlam like this… and that it might be time for a change. We’ve never seen Regal quite like this before, and he truly looked defeated.
This comes after numerous brawls security couldn’t stop, and Kross telling him to shut the hell up when he tried to stop a confrontation between Kross & Cole. This very well could be his way of preparing to step down. He can’t control NXT, and maybe it’s time for new management. That is, unless he has something else in mind to regain order.
A Way To Bring Samoa Joe Back Into The Mix?
There is a long history between William Regal and recently released superstar Samoa Joe. During his stint in NXT, Joe won the top belt twice, and made things very hard on Regal with his methods. It was nowhere near as chaotic as we have today, but Joe was hard to control. However, Regal knows Joe, and time heals all wounds.
There have been rumors swirling about Samoa Joe returning to WWE as an in-ring competitor for NXT. Having Joe come in as the weapon of Regal to restore order could be an excellent storyline for the summer months, and he’d be an instant match for Karrion Kross. Joe simply wants to get back in the ring, and there is a great deal of potential in matches with Reed, Gargano, Kross and more.
Do you think William Regal will step down as NXT GM? Is this how Samoa Joe returns? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
