At 19th anniversary, Tracy Williams won the ROH TV Championship. He defeated Kenny King, who was standing in for Dragon Lee on that night. However, before Dragon Lee could get his rematch, Tony Deppen got an upset win over Williams to become champion. Now, Deppen is looking to prove he belongs as champion as he takes on both Lee & Williams in a Triple Threat match, with the TV Championship on the line.
Dragon Lee Will Pick His Spots
Dragon Lee would start the match by showing disrespect to both opponents before taking a break outside. Deppen & Williams locked up, and Lee slipped in for a two count on Williams with a roll up, before slipping back to the outside.
Williams caught a leapfrog from Deppen into a roll up before looking to set up the crossface. Deppen was able to evade, before countering an armdrag into a deep pinfall. Lee slipped into the ring, and Williams tried to work with Deppen to chop Lee but he dodged and let his opponents fight it out.
Deppen and Williams were sent outside by Lee, but they worked together to counter the Suicide Dive into a suplex on the floor. Back in the ring, neither man could make a pin and they’d fight it out once again with Deppen nailing some well placed strikes to take Williams out of the ring. Deppen would stop the dive when Williams moved, before hitting a slingshot dropkick on Lee.
Williams & Deppen fought again on the outside, before Lee nailed a dive over the top rope to take them both out. He’d send Deppen into the ring to nail a Double Stomp, getting a two count before Williams broke the pinfall up. Lee hit Combinación de Cabrón on Williams, but as he set up the dropkick, Deppen got involved.
Tony Deppen Gets Handed The Win
Deppen would be set up in the opposite corner by Lee, before taking a dropkick after Williams got his. Williams broke the fall up and hit a Death Valley Driver, but Deppen was able to stop the pin and save his championship. He’d kick the leg out from underneath Williams before a knee drop to the back of the head.
Williams went to the corner and caught Deppen with a DDT off the top turnbuckle, before taking a jumping knee from Lee. All three men would throw strikes as they rose to their feet, with Williams falling before Lee hit a German Suplex on Williams. This would become a German Suplex Party, ending with Williams getting both men at once.
Williams looked for the piledriver on Deppen, but Lee took him out before hitting the ripcord knee and sitout powerbomb on Deppen for the two count. Lee & Williams traded blows in the ring, but Williams didn’t fall after the ripcord knee and took Lee down with a big lariat. Williams was hit low by Dragon Lee, and Deppen was able to roll him up for the pin as Dragon Lee simply watched.
Despite a clunky finish, this match was 11 minutes of crazy action up to that point. These are three of the best in the world, and Dragon Lee made his intentions clear that he’s going to come for Deppen one on one. Violence Unlimited keeps their gold, and The Foundation crumbles further. Match Rating: 3.5/5 (*** 1/2)
