After three singles encounters, a triple threat, and plenty of standoffs, it’s time for the feud between WWE Champion Bobby Lashley & Drew McIntyre to end. Tonight, they will both enter the Hell in a Cell structure to finally finish this issue. McIntyre has previous experience in the match, having faced Randy Orton at Hell in a Cell 2020, which was a losing effort. Lashley is an MMA fighter as well as professional wrestler, meaning he is right at home in a cage. And if McIntyre loses? He can’t challenge for the championship again while Lashley is champion.
Welcome To Hell, Lashley
After a staredown, Lashley slipped out of the ring to look for a weapon. McIntyre followed and drove Lashley into the cage, before looking to use the steel steps. Lashley stopped himself from being crushed, and would show that he can use the cell as well. McIntyre however would hit a suplex into the cage, and let Lashley fall onto his head & neck before running him down with the steel steps.
A second whack from the stairs would see McIntyre bring Lashley into the ring, and look for the Future Shock DDT. Lashley fought free but took a belly to belly suplex, and slipped out of the ring. McIntyre grabbed a kendo stick, and swung for the fences before hitting a White Russian Leg Sweep into the cell.
A table would be set up against the cage, as MVP slipped Lashley his cane. Two shots to the throat took McIntyre down, before Lashley threw the cane aside and MVP tried to fish it back out as he hobbled around. McIntyre would be driven into the cage, before hitting White Noise onto the steel steps.
Another table was set up by McIntyre, but as he tried to hit a suplex through it, Lashley went for the throat with a punch. McIntyre was thrown off the wall of the cell, but exploded back with a lariat. Some chairs were set up in the ring by McIntyre before he ran into a back elbow.
Lashley would be picked out of the corner and hit with the reverse Alabama Slam onto a steel chair for the two count. McIntyre would jump off the top rope with a chair but landed into a Hurt Lock. He’d resist the hold and hit a spinebuster and sitout powerbomb, getting another two count.
Drew McIntyre Gets Caught Off Guard
Lashley fled to the outside and McIntyre grabbed the steps, only to have Lashley crush his head between them and the cell.Kendo stick in hand, Lashley would hand it to MVP who helped to trap McIntyre in the corner. McIntyre was treated like a heavy bag, but broke free only to walk into a flatliner.
Another flatliner in the ring was done onto a steel chair, as MVP called for a second one. Instead of going for the cover, Lashley grabbed a Kendo Stick and whacked away on McIntyre. He just fired up McIntyre who hit the Glasgow Kiss before grabbing a chair. McIntyre was shoved into the referee, but didn’t realize it until he hit the Future Shock DDT.
He demanded the second official enter the match, but Lashley looked for the Hurt Lock. McIntyre broke the hold again, and a shot from the steel chair and the Claymore, and McIntyre had it won. That is until MVP pulled the official away. He slipped into the cell, and was now locked inside.
A claymore to MVP took him out, before Lashley locked in the Hurt Lock on the outside. McIntyre launched himself back through the table set up on the cell to break the hold. Back in the ring, McIntyre whacked away with him a chair before missing Claymore. Lashley hit a chokeslam off the apron through the table.
McIntyre crawled into the ring and countered the spear before getting a two count off a backslide. Glasgow Kiss set up the Future Shock, which left Lashley open for Claymore, but MVP was back up. Lashley got a roll up, and won this hard hitting match.
For 99% of this match, the action was hard hitting and excellent. They went to war, having a physical brawl using the Hell in a Cell structure well. However, once MVP got into the cage you knew the finish would be weak, and a roll up finish in a Hell in a Cell match just weakens the mystic of his match even more. Match Rating: 3.5/5 (*** 1/2)
