WWE is getting back on the road, after a long time spent held up in Florida in the WWE Performance Center and later the WWE Thunderdome. Starting in July, they will be back on the road with RAW, Smackdown and PPV events, with NXT starting up their Florida based house shows around the same time. However, with WWE back on the road ahead of Summerslam, there was a lot of speculation on where the event would be held. While early rumors pointed to Madison Square Garden in New York, WWE has officially announced the location to be in Las Vegas.
Summerslam 2021 Will Happen At Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Saturday August 21st
As announced on NBC, Summerslam will be held in the new stadium in Las Vegas on August 21st. It’ll be a rare Saturday PPV event for WWE, and isn’t set to be a two night event like Wrestlemania. We’re likely to see a lot of hype leading into this event, with WWE even looking into booking Cardi B as a special guest host.
Allegiant Stadium has never been used for professional wrestling before, having only been finished in 2020. Summerslam is a great way to start, and WWE has some big matches planned to hopefully pack the stadium. When set up for football it holds up to 65,000 fans, giving a similar capacity to Raymond James Stadium, where Wrestlemania 37 was held.
WWE Has Some Major Rumored Matches Involving John Cena & Brock Lesnar
Summerslam is over two months away, with both Hell in a Cell and Money In The Bank to come before it. Because of this, the card is unclear. However, two major returns are in talks for the event. First up is sixteen time world champion, John Cena. He’s been rumored to return to face Roman Reigns at the event, in a rematch from No Mercy 2017.
Also rumored is the return of Brock Lesnar, who would likely face either Bobby Lashley or Drew McIntyre at the event. If they are able to set up both of these matches and round them out with a strong card and big guests, they would have no issues drawing a major crowd.
