Last week, the Five Labours Of Jericho began with him defeating Shawn Spears. However, this week Chris Jericho is forced to bring out his deadly Painmaker persona to have a chance to survive. This is because tonight, he will face deathmatch master Nick Gage in a no-rules match. Gage was supposed to debut for AEW in 2020 but an injury delayed him, so tonight is a major moment for him. He’s being hyped as the master of the deathmatch, and there is nothing Jericho can do to him that hasn’t already been done.
Nick Gage Isn’t Holding Back
Gage would hit the ring with an introduction which truly sells him as a killer, Justin Roberts doing his reputation justice. MJF would come out with some popcorn, and Gage had a pizza cutter ready. He’d swipe at Jericho, and get him across the arm causing first blood. Jericho would be able to disarm Gage, before running into a spinebuster.
Gage nailed a running boot in the corner, sending him to the outside for some forearm and headbutt shots. Jericho got Gage with a right hand before throwing him into the barricade. Gage would be sent into the ring, where he’d catch Jericho on the top rope with a superplex before hitting a Falcon Arrow for a two count.
Jericho blocked another running boot from Gage and got the Walls of Jericho, and no rope break could save him instantly. Gage would use it for leverage, before taking some punches to the head from Jericho and shoved into the post. They’d split off to grab some weapons, Jericho grabbing his bat and Gage some light tubes.
Jericho struck first with the bat, before taking the Chokebreaker. Gage would bring out another pizza cutter, and MJF called for Gage to carve him up. He’d do just that, going at the forehead. This is all legal in this match, and Gage would get some more damage in.
Chris Jericho Survives A Deathmatch
Some steel chairs would be thrown into the ring, before Gage grabbed a light tube and got punched low. Jericho was barely in the fight, and Gage shoved him down and hit an elbow drop onto a steel chair. He’d get an assistant at ringside to bring a pane of glass into the ring. Gage set it up across two steel chairs, and Jericho beneath it.
He went up top, intent to maim both himself and Jericho before being caught. Jericho nailed some strikes before hitting a hurricanrana through the glass. Gage would counter the Codebreaker with a spinebuster onto the glass shards, before having a light tub smashed over his head.
Finally, a piledriver onto the glass would all but kill Jericho, but he kept on fighting. Gage grabbed a shank and stabbed the forehead of Jericho, before looking to stab him with the broken light tub. What would come next? A bundle of light tubes over this head. Jericho would counter with some poison mist, before hitting the bundle of light tubes over Gage’s head and nailed Judas Effect for the win.
After the match, Jericho would hear the third labour. He needs to win with a move of the top rope, and his opponent would be Juventud Guerrera. Jericho will have one of the best luchadors ever, to face a bitter rival. Can Jericho keep winning? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
