Recently in NXT UK, Kay Lee Ray lost her claim as being the forever champion when she lost to the legendary Meiko Satomura. KLR managed to hold the NXT UK Women’s Championship for 649 days, with a total of 6 defenses. While this reign was slowed down by the COVID-19 shutdown, there is no denying her dominance. Now she sets her eyes on a new target, that being NXT.
Kay Lee Ray Has Been Sighted By The WWE Performance Center
NXT fans should be a bit familiar with KLR, even if they don’t keep up with the NXT UK brand. She was part of the first ever female WarGames match, and won a lot of fans over with her gutsy performance in the match. When you’re able to stand out in a match which also features Io Shirai & Rhea Ripley? You have some serious talent.
KLR was recently spotted in the United States, showing up in Florida around the WWE Performance Center. Because of this, we can expect her to be showing up in NXT programming very soon. Recent call ups of Tegan Nox, Shotzi Blackheart, Toni Storm, Aliyah and potentially Xia Li has left the division a bit sparse, but adding names from the NXT UK brand like KLR will help to get it back to a high level.
A Potential Major Player For NXT
With a lack of other top names on NXT right now, KLR will be able to slip right into the main event scene. Right now the focus is on the breakup of NXT Women’s Champion Raquel Gonzalez & Dakota Kai, with Kai having recently turned on Gonzalez to try and escape her shadow. With a title change likely, and Gonzalez perhaps set for a call up, a feud between Kai & KLR would be the perfect way to showcase just how great these two are.
Other big matches waiting for KLR include Sarray, Ember Moon, Io Shirai, and Franky Monet. She could be in for an even bigger run than what we saw in NXT UK, where she proved her dominance as a champion. NXT is in a transition period, which happens every few years.
