Right now, fans might be shocked to learn that former WWE NXT & Diva’s Champion Paige is actually still with the company. She’s been out of the ring since re-injuring her neck, and WWE seems to have no interest in putting her on TV in any type of role, despite her having a very favourable run as Smackdown GM after she was no longer cleared. However, she has managed to keep busy, namely on Twitch – where she recently revealed when her contract with WWE will finally come to an end.
WWE Has Paige Under Contract Until 2022
Paige had actually resigned with WWE back in 2019 it was reported to be on a four year deal, to be used as an on-screen character. Despite this, she really hasn’t been seen since that deal began. However, on a recent stream she would be asked if she cleared up using Twitch with WWE, given their recent crackdown on wrestlers using the service. Her response was the following.
“My contract is up in June of next year. Who knows if they would want to give me a new contract? Who’s to say they would want to? If they did, I’d love to have Twitch as a part of the contract.“ This shows that Paige was only on for a three year deal, and also brings up doubts that WWE will even want to keep her onboard after that is done. It also confirms she somehow avoided WWE cutting her during their release sprees earlier this year.
Likely Never To Wrestle Again
The sad truth is, we will likely not see Paige get back into a ring. She showed incredible promise as a future mega-star, and would have thrived in the current women’s division, but her injuries have really put an end to that. Even if she went to AEW, she’d be a big risk to put into the ring.
It’s not even clear if Paige would want to stay in the industry after she’s released. She came up as a wrestler, being a member of the Knight Family, but Paig ethat doesn’t mean it has to be her career for life. Even if WWE can’t find a use for her on TV, they seem keen on keeping her around all the same. Could you see them trying to re-sign Paige in 2022?
