More first round action in the ROH Women’s Championship Tournament, as Trish Adora takes on Marti Belle. Marti Belle has been around on the indies and has shown up in the Mae Young Classic previously, while Trish Adora has recently been in the news. She’s the holder of the Pan-Afrikan World Diaspora Wrestling World Championship, and that belt was recently put on the same level as the ROH World Champion by Pro Wrestling Illustrated. Can this world champion prove herself in ROH with this first round fight?

Marti Belle Was Ready To Fight

There would be a handshake before the match, and Belle would lock up with Adora. Belle is a faster wrestler, while Adora is more technically sound. Adora would show this early on as she went for a standing wrist lock, but Belle was able to hold her down and break free. Some front rolls from Adora got her loose, before Belle grabbed another headlock.

Adora would look to break free with a backdrop, before being taken down the mat. She’d counter out with a roll into a pinfall, before looking for a Full Nelson Suplex. Belle would force her into the corner, but Adora went back to the hold. Adora would let her free and look for Lariat Tubman, but Belle would counter with a quick open palm strike before a commercial break.

Trish Adora Channels An ROH Legend For The Win

Back from the break, Belle would look for a knee trembler, and manage a two count after impact. Belle would try for a Tiger Driver before Adora countered out. She’d charge into the corner but miss Belle, get taken down and take a knee strike to the face for another two count. More hard strikes from Belle would punish Adora, before Adora fired up.

Some big forearm strikes and a running crossbody took Belle down, before a snapmare and kick to the arm would allow Adora to hit a judo style throw. Adora would kick away at the arm of Belle, before getting a two count off a cradle pin. Bell tried for Hells Belles, before Adora took her down and applied Cattle Mutilation for the win.

Another solid match in this tournament, with crisp in-ring action from both ladies. There was a clear level of history and respect here, making it a very fun match. Match Rating: 2.5/5 (** 1/2)

In the next round, Trish Adora will meet Allysin Kay. Can she keep the wins coming? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.

A wrestling fan practically since birth, who has been hooked since he got his first toy wrestling ring for Christmas as a child. Since getting access to the internet, he's watched more wrestling than he could ever remember from all around the world. It's hard to keep track of what happens in the wild world of professional wrestling, but he always tries to stay up to date. Note: No relation to Tully Blanchard of Four Horsemen fame (probably).
