Recently, WWE cut a large number of names from the NXT roster. Everyone from recently signed names like Ari Sterling & Tyler Rust, to veterans like Bobby Fish. However, NXT’s loss is potentially a major win for Ring of Honor. They have been very vocal about expecting some surprises at Death Before Dishonor, and have been asking fans who they want to see.
ROH Is Looking To Bring In Recently Released Names From WWE NXT
With very little care shown, Ring of Honor would take to Twitter to ask a simple question to fans. “With all of the recent releases, who from WWE NXT would you like to see compete in ROH?”. No one expects companies to be this up-front about these situations, yet here ROH was directly tagging WWE NXT on Twitter.
This worked, as the tweet was able to generate a fair bit of attention, getting hundreds of retweets and thousands of likes. However, it might not just be them trying to get suggestions, as on the Eck’s Files section of their website, this note was in a recent post from Kevin Eck. “I’m hearing that some talented wrestlers who were recently released from another organization could be appearing at Death Before Dishonor.”
Who Could We See?
Out of the most recent releases from NXT, there are a few names who already have history in ROH. Bobby Fish is a former TV & Tag Team Champion, and Tyler Rust was in the Pure Championship tournament. Both of them would be natural picks for ROH, and it was never said that it was new talent. Other names that would fit extremely well include Bronson Reed, Mercedes Martinez, and going a bit further back to earlier this year, Tyler Breeze.
Any of those names could be put right to the top of their divisions, and really add to the talent pool of ROH. Moreso than Impact Wrestling or AEW, ROH needs this talent. Their roster is strong, but there hasn’t been much upwards movement. Getting some major names that are still fresh in folks minds might be their best move.
