Today was taping day for AEW Dark, which is at its new home of Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. It’s no longer the Impact Zone, but now the All Elite Zone. They were taping a month of episodes, which means surprises and new names to AEW were expected – and that was delivered. We have two former names from WWE NXT, and one GCW fan favorite.
FTR Take One Some 205 Live Favorites On AEW Dark
We’ve only seen the first half of the tapings, but we’ve already seen quite a few matches and angles set up. While most are expected matches for Dark like Daniel Garcia vs. Alan Angels, but the first surprise was Big Swole vs. Allie Katch. Katch is best known for her work in GCW, and is one of the best ladies in terms of deathmatches right now.
However, the biggest match that was done at this taping was featuring FTR. The former AEW World Tag Team Champions took on two men who fans of WWE 205 will remember, in Stallion Rogers & Anthony Green! This has been named as a match to not miss by fans in attendance, and given the men involved this isn’t a shock. Stallion & Green were two of the best parts of 205 Live this year, and showed great tag team chemistry during their time there.
Eddie Kingston Calls Out Minoru Suzuki & Lance Archer
The first set of tapings would end with an angle setting up a match for Arthur Ashe Stadium. Eddie Kingston would face Bear Bronson, and afterwards would respond to comments made by Minoru Suzuki & Lance Archer. They had some gripes about Suzuki’s music being cut off early, and Jon Moxley getting such a big celebration. Kingston would call them out for a tag team match in New York, and Lance Archer would meet him for a brawl.
It’s unclear if this will be shown on AEW Dark or shown on Dynamite, as it was preceded by Kingston thanking the fans for being loud – and this is an angle they want to follow up on pretty quickly. Overall, this new version of AEW Dark seems to have potential, and would be able to stand out more than it currently does.
