For the past two years, WWE has made a lot of choices due to the pandemic. Some of them have not been great, such as releasing many of their beloved names, including main eventers like Bray Wyatt & Braun Strowman. However, one choice they made was one that actually got good feedback. That was the two night Wrestlemania format.
While the first time around it was to prevent an overly long show in the WWE Performance Center, the second time was to test out the format properly and get as many tickets sold as possible. Now, in 2022 we are set to see yet another two night Wrestlemania.
Two Night Wrestlemania Is Best For Business
This choice likely might become the expected standard for Wrestlemania at this point. WWE has gotten a lot of feedback about their events being too long, and the dead crowd for the historic main event of Becky Lynch vs. Ronda Rousey vs. Charlotte Flair says it all. Shows like Wrestlemania were becoming tests of endurance, and weren’t enjoyable after hour five hit like a brick to the face.
Fans, talent and critics could all come together and agree that a two night Wrestlemania is the best course of action. Even just being able to promote two main events and have both Royal Rumble winners go on to the main event is great in it’s own right. It will help normalize the ladies of WWE being in the main event of big shows, while still allowing Roman Reigns to slowly reach double digits of Wrestlemania main event matches.
Will It Expand To Other PPV Events Next?
Should this be successful once again in 2022, we could even see them try a two night Summerslam later that year – provided they can sort out the venue for this. It’s not going to create perfect shows, that’s near impossible with the current WWE product. But making things more watchable and digestible alone is a major accomplishment at this point.
