Jon Moxley lately hasn’t been too focused on the AEW roster. He’s been fighting the legends of New Japan Pro Wrestling, and having a grand time doing so. Meanwhile, the AEW roster has grown to include some bright talent in names like Wheeler Yuta. Yuta has been the protege of The Best Friends for months now, and has been proving himself as one of the top technical wrestlers AEW has – but can he beat a brawler like Moxley?
Jon Moxley Doesn’t Get Paid By The Hour
Prior to this match beginning, we’d hear from Lio Rush & Dante Martin – who would form a new tag team, as Rush looks to show Martin how to get wins. This leaves the injured Darius Martin out in the cold, and could be interesting upon his return – but also feels very similar to Matt Hardy & Private Party. We will have to see how this plays out. Another situation that needs playing out is FTR as the AAA Tag Team Champions, and it turns out Andrade paid MJF for one night of using the top tag team.
All that over, Moxley would hit the ring and go right after Yuta with some big strikes. He’d almost get DQ’d, but was able to calm down before five. He’d hit the Paradigm shift and this one was over. Jon Moxley does not get paid by the hour, and came into this one in a foul mood. Orange Cassidy looked horrified, and concerned over the condition of Yuta.
Superkliq BAY-BAY
The Superkliq is here to rule the trios ranks of AEW, and with a lineup of Adam Cole & The Young Bucks – you have a potential Mount Rushmore of modern wrestling. Three members of The Dark Order look to take them down here tonight, as they ride a wave of momentum given by their friend Hangman Page returning to the top of AEW.
Evil Uno, John Silver & Alex Reynolds would step up for Dark Order – but they’d be attacked before the bell. Never turn your back on The Superkliq. Silver would be hit with a powerbomb on the ramp if he didn’t make the counter, and this one could start with Nick Jackson left alone in the ring. Dark Order would isolate and destroy, and when Superkliq got some control, Silver tried to go three on one.
That was a mistake, and chaos suits Superkilq. Uno & Reynolds fell next, Young Bucks would hit a double drop kick on Silver in the ring for two. Cole would tag in and look confident even as he got punched. A neckbreaker slowed the pace, and Superkliq would make some smart and quick tags.
Silver would have to fight to get the tag, hitting a double suplex on the Young Bucks. Uno in, and he’d be met by Cole. Uno stole a shoe off Nick Jackson, including the sock. He’d embody Mick Foley and look for a Mandible Claw to a massive pop. Super Kliq Special was blocked, and Dark Order would send them all outside.
Something Evil would get a two count on Cole, but Young Bucks broke it up. Cole and Reynolds would go at it, with Cole getting help with Panama Sunrise before BTE Trigger & THE BOOM for the win.
Superkliq always brings some serious chaos, knowing that making your opponents mad gets results. Dark Order had a hard time not getting emotional, and it cost them. We had some really fun moments by the end, but it never went too deep into comedy. Match Rating: 3.5/5 (*** 1/2)
