Jon Moxley doesn’t care about this tournament. Ever since his daughter was born, that is all that matters. But professional wrestling is his job, and being AEW World Champion brings more money, which gives his kid a better upbringing. Therefore, he’s motivated to win every match in record time.
He knows he can do that with Preston Vance, as he broke his arm before when Mr. Brodie Lee was looking for a shot at the AEW World Championship during his first reign. However, Vance is another man now, not the rookie from over a year ago – and will look to prove this with a win tonight.
Jon Moxley Tears A 12 Match Win Streak Down In Rapid Fashion
Vance would hit the ring with a 12 match win streak. No one in the Dark Order is hotter right now, but it still might not be enough to take down Jon Moxley. Moxley would hit the ring in a bad mood, going right for a German Suplex and stomp Vance out in the corner. Vance blocked another German Suplex attempt, but was sent outside and slammed off the ring steps.
His mask was ripped open, Moxley would bite his face and hit him off the ring post. Vance was now wearing a crimson mask, and hit a rolling forearm and pump kick. Moxley ran him down with a lariat, beat him to a bloody pulp and marched off the semi-final match of the tournament to take on Orange Cassidy.
Now Let’s Hear From Cody Rhodes!
After that, Cody Rhodes would make his way to the ring. He would be called out by Black earlier in the show – knowing that things are far from done between them. It’s not about wins in the ring, Black is playing a mental game. He was greeted by a negative reception, and Rhodes does hear it. Rhodes reads the internet and he heard everyone on Saturday.
He applied a double underhook, and everyone thought he was looking for the pedigree – but he didn’t. What would happen if he did? Would he break the rules and challenge for the AEW World Championship? Who knows. Why didn’t he do it, it would be too easy. It was the easy way out, and Rhodes didn’t take it.
Fans can do what they want but they need to remember who built the bank, before he threw shoes into the crowd. He grew up in front of his crowd, and is in the shadow of his brother and father – so the easy way out isn’t an option. Rhodes will not turn. Maybe he got a little Hollywood, but now he apologizes to everyone.
Andrade would come out and remind everyone that no one likes either of them for different reasons. He’d insult the tattoo of Rhodes, and say that getting in his business was a mistake. Andrade would step up first, and the lights went out. Mist to the eyes, Black and Andrade would beat Rhodes down and PAC made the save.
