Malakai Black was listening when he heard up and coming star Dante Martin saw he would take on anyone in AEW. Black would turn the lights off on Martin with a single kick, having accepted that challenge. Now tonight on Dynamite, Martin has to face Black once again – and try his best to survive. After a haunting entrance from Malakai Black, Dante Martin would hit the ring with Lio Rush at his side to keep him calm and collected.
Malakai Black Only Needs One Kick
There was a nervous look across the face of Dante Martin as he faced down Black, but would land on his feet out of a German Suplex from Black. Two deep arm drags would take Martin down, and this is what Black needs to do to be able to beat someone as fast as Martin – keep him from moving. This shows that Black takes Martin seriously, and Martin showed why he should by getting out with a big armdrag of his own and a dropkick.
Black cut off the dash of Martin before he could complete a dive to the outside, and caught him with a big back elbow. Martin would try to get back with another dive, before landing in a powerbomb and being locked in a single leg boston crab. Black would fail to get him to tap, with Martin able to get the ropes.
Martin would be hit with two big knee breakers before looking for a knee bar on Malakai Black. Again, he’d get the ropes and this time made it to the apron. He’d be able to get a big poisonrana on Black, sending him to the outside. Martin would hit a flipping senton to the ramp, taking Black down, and back in the ring the double jump moonsault missed.
He’d land on his feet – before taking two flying knees, a kick to the head and a German Suplex from Martin. Martin kicked out at two, and Black might have been a bit concerned. Black took Martin to the top rope for a superplex, but it was turned into a hurricanrana. After kicking out, Black grabbed a single leg crab – and a kick to the gut hurt him. Martin missed a dive, and Black Mass was in session.
Malakai Black hasn’t been a world killer in AEW, but rather someone who does need to push to win matches – even over people like Martin. However, it’s been proven that a single well placed kick ends anyone, which is more than enough. Martin looked great here, hanging with a main event level name in a singles capacity. Match Rating: 3/5 (***)
