Since making their return from COVID-19, Major League Wrestling (MLW) has been making some smart moves. From bringing in respected veterans like Bobby Fish & Davey Richards, to having a version of the iconic L.A.X faction on board – they’ve been proving why they’re a promotion worth keeping an eye on. However, they want to get in on the biggest on-going partnership in wrestling today, and want to walk through the Forbidden Door – namely to get into the mix with AEW.
MLW & AEW Have Been Communicating
According to MLW President Court Bauer when he spoke with WrestlingInc.com, there has already been some talks between AEW & MLW. Lately, some names who people figured were locked down under contract by MLW would sign with AEW, notably both Bobby Fish & Lee Moriarty. However, this hasn’t been an issue – as there has been some communication.
“Definitely, there’s some type of communication. I will say guys like Chris Daniels and Tony Khan have been very good, and it’s been a very easy, effortless kind of rapport. That’s always what you hope for. Historically, it’s easier said than done with some companies, but so far, nothing but positive when it comes to those relationships with AEW.”
AEW has been getting a great reputation when it comes to working alongside other promotions as of late, which is why they’re able to work with AAA, New Japan Pro Wrestling, Impact Wrestling, Ring of Honor, and more.
Getting Jacob Fatu & Alexander Hammerstone On A Bigger Platform?
When it comes to names in MLW that could benefit from this, Jacob Fatu & Alexander Hammerstone are their two biggest – and could only get bigger with more exposure. MLW has built up their coming title clash in a huge way, but ViceTV is hardly a major platform.
Get a match like that in front of an AEW Crowd, even just the average episode of Dynamite? That’d get a ton of eyes on the MLW product. Meanwhile, AEW has a lot of young talent working shows like Dark and Dark: Elevation, and working tapings for MLW would help them get some more reps in. Training is fine – but matches in front of crowds are what get you truly better.
