This Wednesday on the second anniversary of AEW Dynamite, Bobby Fish has a huge chance to show he can hang in singles. He’s making his debut for AEW as he takes on Sammy Guevara for the TNT Championship. Fish called his shot on Twitter, and now the veteran grappler has a chance to really shine following his release from WWE NXT earlier this year. However, there’s a connection fans can’t ignore between Fish & The Elite – and Adam Cole is watching this one closely.
Bobby Fish & Adam Cole Have Deep Respect For Each Other
For those who don’t keep up with WWE or their third brand (or now once again their developmental territory) of NXT, fans might not think much is there between Adam Cole & Bobby Fish. However, they were together in The Undisputed Era – the greatest faction in NXT history. They held all the gold together, and fought side by side in WarGames. Roderick Strong & Kyle O’Reilly rounded out the group, which dissolved earlier this year.
AEW doesn’t ignore what happens outside of their company, and thus Cole has every reason to be looking out for his old friend. When Cole saw the match graphic on Twitter, he’d respond with a simple “Hmmm”. We can’t assume he’s got plans based on this alone – but we also can’t count out anything when it comes to The Elite.
A Chance For The Elite To Gain More Gold
Seeing as it’s likely that Fish has some type of deal with AEW given the logo being on a new and currently unreleased T-Shirt, we could very well see the reign of Sammy Guevara end prematurely. Fish on his own can hang with just about anyone in a straight up one on one fight, and he knows the benefits of having a faction behind him. It would be early for Guevara to lose his first title in AEW – but it can be blamed on battle scars from fight with Miro and Elite interference.
Fish could call in a favour from Adam Cole, to have the Elite look to screw over Guevara. They have the TNT Championship to gain, which would help them continue their stranglehold on AEW after The Young Bucks lost the AEW World Tag Team Championships. It needs to be noted that Bobby Fish is also a friend of The Young Bucks, having faced them around 50 times over his career. He’s got the links, the skills – and maybe soon the gold.
