When the main event match between Santos Escobar & Isaiah ‘Swerve’ Scott was crashed by the other two members of Legado Del Fantasma, Carmello Hayes & Trick Williams would make the save. They fought off Joaquin Wilde & Raul Mendoza, and were able to help Swerve get the win – before laying him out. Hayes would cash in his Breakout Tournament championship shot, and in the process became the NXT North American Champion. Tonight, he opens NXT 2.0 with a celebration.

    It’s Time For A Celebration

Carmelo Hayes would hit the ring to a good reception from the crowd in the Capitol Wrestling Center. If WWE is looking to make a hated heel, they did a good job last week – finally getting him some heat from the crowd. Swerve was beloved from his time in NXT, and Hayes took him down with a cash in. He already looked and talked like a champion, and now has the hardware to match.

Trick Williams would ask for a second introduction for Hayes as champion, because it was so nice that he needed to hear it twice. They look like money now, and there is nothing humble about either of these men. Williams asked for some noise from the crowd, and we’d get just that.

Hayes only made his debut four and a half months ago, and proved he was the final boss when he slayed the field of the NXT Breakout Tournament – and waited for the perfect spot. He pulled a swerve on Swerve himself, and when he shoots he don’t miss. From this point on, he calls the shots and the leader of the New School. So long as the North American Championship is around his waist, he’s making it the A-Championship, and everyone better call it as such.

    Enter Johnny Wrestling

One man would take a gripe with this, being the three time NXT North American Champion Johnny Gargano. The energy in the room changed when Gargano hit the ring, and Hayes was never properly introduced to him since joining this brand. Gargano has had his eyes on Hayes since he showed up, and just wanted to congratulate the new champion. He’s been having fun lately, and wanted to get in on this celebration – but now it’s time to get serious.

The Way is done, Austin is on RAW, Indi is married and LeRae is pregnant. What is next for Gargano? Going back to what he does better than anyone else in NXT 2.0 – which is beating the best the brand has to offer. Right now, Hayes made himself that, but is he ready to face Johnny Wrestling? Williams would talk smack about Indi Hartwell, and Dexter Lumis was ready to protect the honor of his wife. Hayes & Williams fled the ring, and forgot their gold.

Can Johnny Gargano become a four time champ? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.

Since getting access to the internet, he's watched more wrestling than he could ever remember from all around the world. It's hard to keep track of what happens in the wild world of professional wrestling, but he always tries to stay up to date. Note: No relation to Tully Blanchard of Four Horsemen fame (probably).
