After matches with Minoru Suzuki, CM Punk, and Bryan Danielson, Eddie Kingston has already taken on some of the heaviest influences that someone like Daniel Garcia pulls from. Grapplers who grew up with men like that are a dime a dozen on the indies, but few show the same potential that those men showed as rookies. Combine that potential with some crazy focus, and the outside help of 2point0 – Garcia is a dangerous man.
However, Kingston is the finished product as a professional wrestler, while Garcia is still just a promising rookie. After interrupting a promo, and then throwing coffee in his face, Kingston is interested in beating some respect into Garcia on tonight’s main event for AEW Rampage.
Eddie Kingston Has Garcia Beat In Just About Every Category
Garcia would start by trying to take Kingston down, and being shut right down and having some heavy punches thrown his way. Kingston would block a second takedown, and Garcia would finally change his gameplan. He’d get some time with 2point0 on the outside, and tried to go strike for strike with Kingston… and got the taste slapped out of his mouth and stomped into the corner.
Garcia went outside again, and Kingston followed and took 2point0 out. Getting back into the ring, Garcia took advantage of having the high ground to get some heavy strikes in. Kingston would be cornered and take a set of pump kicks to the jaw. After some forearm strikes from Garcia, Kingston used a Greco Roman Eye Poke to get some space, before hitting a knee drop to the back of the neck of Garcia.
Kingston would notice his left leg giving him issues, and Garcia noticed. The knee was buckled, and even hitting a front suplex slam gave him some issues. Kingston would take some knee strikes from Garcia before fighting off an armbar attempt. Garcia tried to move into a triangle choke, but Kingston would know to fight out with clubbing blows.
Daniel Garcia Takes Advantage Of The Hurt Knee Of Kingston
Kingston would take a back elbow before Garcia gouged at his eyes, and Jeff Parker would bark trash talk at Kingston. Garcia hit some elbows to the nose of Kingston, before going after the ear of Kingston. Kingston responded by biting Garcia, but between the knee and now the ear being hurt – he wasn’t steady on his feet. Garcia nailed a chop block, before further attacking the knee of Kingston.
Kingston would have his wrist grabbed, as Garcia stomped down on the left ear. Garcia would keep striking Kingston, who might be biding his time. Kingston was thrown across the ring, and he’d play opossum to sucker Garcia into a Wrist Clutch Exploder Suplex. Getting a few moments to recover, Kingston would get into the fight again – before ending up in a kneebar.
Thankfully he was near the ropes, and Kingston got free and nailed a powerbomb to Garcia. Garcia took a chop to the neck, but blocked the Half & Half Suplex into a heel hook. Kingston would kick his way free, and Garcia dove into some ridgehand strikes to the face. Garcia should have stuck to the leg, as Kingston fired back with a half nelson suplex.
Kingston nailed an enziguri when Garcia kicked out, only to have Red Death come back with a lariat. Garcia would hit a knee drop to the neck of Kingston, before being dropped on his head with a backdrop and the Uraken for the win.
Match Rating: 4.25/5 (**** 1/4)
After the match, 2point0 would attack Eddie Kingston – and Chris Jericho wouldn’t sit by and watch this. He’d clean house, sending Jeff Parker hard out of the ring with a lariat. Things would fade to black, but Kingston claimed on Twitter that he told Jericho – “”what the are you doing, I don’t need your help.”
