Jamie Spears is wanting to speed up the end of his conservatorship arrangement with his daughter Britney Spears by stating that he does not want a payout.
Britney Spears’ Father Jamie Spears Agrees To Forgo Any Pay-Off During The Conservatorship Transition
This would be some major news for Britney given, at one point, it was claimed that Jamie was receiving a reported $16,000 a month for his services. And yet, this move could be interpreted in two ways.
First of all, Jamie could be doing this in order to save his reputation. After all, how would it look if he requested that his daughter pay him so she could be free? Secondly, it could simply be because Jamie wants to make things up and do what he feels is right.
The latter is what Jamie is intending to do. In an official statement to the court, Jamie’s attorney said: “Jamie unconditionally loves and supports his daughter. Full stop.
“As he has done for her entire life, Jamie will do everything he can to protect and care for her.” Despite this desire, Britney’s team have apparently stated that Jamie is wanting a $2 million pay-off.
This may be to cover his legal expenses, which are bound to run in the millions. However, the noise that is coming out of Jamie’s camp is that he wants to close this chapter once and for all.
The attorney added: “Jamie hereby affirms his request to terminate the Conservatorship… Jamie does not make this request subject to a demand for releases or compensation — it is unconditional.”
This is extremely positive news for Britney as it is another hurdle that is going to be removed from her journey in becoming independent. Although Jamie may feel that he is doing a noble thing, it is the very least that he could do given what Britney has said about him.
In addition, he should consider himself lucky that Britney has not decided to sue him over the treatment that she said she was being subjected to.
Britney is holding all the cards at the moment, and with that firmly in mind, Jamie will have to be careful over how he handles this conservatorship transition.
