The world was shocked by Chris Pratt cast as the beloved plumber Mario. But now he’s annoyed everyone again with another announcement that he will be playing Garfield.
At the moment, there is nothing saying Pratt won’t be great as the two roles but with the voice behind Garfield heavily connected to Bill Murray, who has played the ginger cat twice. It very much feels like Bill Murray should return to the role rather than Chris Pratt.

It felt like this announcement was straight after Chis Pratt was announced as Mario. Could this be a PR stunt? Garfield is known to be a grump, and Pratt is known for quite an energetic performance, making it feel like more of a PR stunt rather than a logical move. Was anyone talking about this movie until this announcement?
Should we be worried about the Garfield and Mairo movies?
Looking at Chris Pratt’s career, he is pretty qualified for the job with an extensive past of voice acting from Copper in Ben 10 to more recently the older brother in Onward. But throughout his career, he has had a good amount of different voice acting roles. Making it possible that being cast as both Mario and Garfield could work out for the best. But at the moment, it feels like there could be a better choice out there.
