Yuya Uemura has made strides since coming to the United States, but tonight is his biggest challenge to date. He has to take on former Impact World Champion and a man known as The Walking Weapon in Josh Alexander. Uemura Might have all the motivation in the world, but is it enough?

Josh Alexander & Yuya Uemura Leave It All In The Ring

Uemura & Alexander would both battle for control as this one started, showing their grappling skills. Alexander got a side headlock, but it’d take more than that to get someone like Uemura down. He’d actually gain control of the hold, but Alexander would break free. An exchange of strikes ended with Alexander hitting a low shoulder tackle into a Northern Lights Suplex.

Alexander would drive Uemura into the corner for some heavy chops, but things were looking good as Uemura turned it around. His fighting spirit was working as Alexander beat him down, with a massive dropkick knocking the former world champion silly. A scoop slam into a jumping elbow looked great and a back suplex into the armbar had to be blocked by Alexander.

Uemura would weather two German Suplexes, and land one of his own. He’d try for a dropkick and end up in an ankle lock. While trying to fight free, it was shifted into a Sharpshooter, but he’d reach the ropes. After a knee breaker in the corner, Ankle Lock was reapplied, and Uemura had to fight to turn it into an armbar!

Uemura failed to get the submission, and with the ankle lock reapplied- Alexander would get the grapevine and force the tap out. This one never left the ring, and is why the Young Lion system is so damn good.

A standard Young Lion match with a chance of Uemura getting the win over the outsider Alexander. Excellent wrestling, high drama – but zero build to go off of. That’s all holding this one back, is it was otherwise great Match Rating: 3.5/5 (*** 1/2)

Stray Dog Army Ride Sneak Attack Start As Far As It Takes Them

Bateman threw some blows to Dickinson before the bell rang, setting a different tone for this match. Stray Dog Army got the edge during this, and Bateman would look to isolate King in their corner while Dickinson crawled to his feet. The strikes of Bateman were praised by even Shibata, and Misterioso would bring some speed with a senton over the top rope.

King was desperate for a tag, but was still kicking out at one and resisting submissions. He just needed Dickinson to pick the pace up, and he would with a hot tag and some nice suplexes. An armbar almost got Misterioso, but Bateman broke it up with a stomp. Stray Dog Army were simply ruling this match, that sneak attack start paid off huge. Misterioso nailed a double knee strike in the corner, before applying a sleeper hold.

Dickinson would get a tag to King, who crushed Bateman in the corner with a cannonball senton, before chucking Misterioso into him as they rushed in. A big senton and diving splash might have done it, but Dickinson couldn’t make the pinfall due the damage of a hard match. Bateman would get the pin to end the match. Dickinson would be taken out on a stretcher – something clearly gone wrong.

A basic brawl of a tag team match, with some decent action but low heat. A potential injury to close things out did not help. Match Rating: 2.25/5 (** 1/4)

Ever since Fred Rosser first met Tom Lawlor and lost – he’s been determined to get another shot. Tonight, he leads Alex Coughlin, Alex Zayne, David Finlay, & Rocky Romero into battle against a united Team Filthy – and at the Detonation tapings, Rosser gets Lawlor one on one. After whatever happened to Dickinson, this one had to get the show back on the right track in a hurry.

Team Rosser & Team Filthy Bring Some Chaos

As Team Rosser hit the ring, Team Filthy would scatter to the outside. Rosser would start the match, and Lawlor started for his team. They’d brawl it out, with Rosser getting Lawlor into the corner for some strikes. It spilled to the outside, where a sea of bodies threw strikes. Rosser & Lawlor got back into the ring, before Lawlor tried to choke Rosser out over the ropes. Lawlor instead would fall outside and cause another huge brawl.

Finlay & Danny Limelight picked the pace up with some high energy moves, before Rocky Romero hit a signature rope hung dropkick and paid tribute to Eddie Guerrero. Romero would go for the forever lariats on Limelight, managing three before Jorel Nelson ran him down. JR Kratos would easily out power Romero, before they all tried to poser above Romero – with Rosser running down Lawlor.

Romero made a comeback and looked for a tag to Zayne, who would speed things up even more with a leapfrog over Romero to a hurricanrana off the top rope. Coughlin would power up to try and suplex Kratos, but was ran down by a shoulder tackle. Kratos was throwing anyone who stepped to him out of the ring, before considering a dive and being shut down by Zayne. Zayne, Limelight & Romero nailed dives onto a pileup, always a fun time. Finally, Kratos was able to fly!

Coughlin would get Kratos alone in the ring, and nail a huge lariat and gutwrench suplex, an amazing feat. Rosser would rush down Royce Isaacs, before being attacked by West Coast Wrecking Crew and a frog splash from Limelight. However, a big spinebuster to Isaacs would bring the finish, with Team Rosser winning.

Some basic but fun brawling, and fast paced spots. It got the crowd back into the mix after an injury in the previous match, a great sign that the wrestlers did their job right. Match Rating: 3/5 (***)
