When New Japan Pro Wrestling runs two tournaments at once, things get a bit hectic – but no worries. The results from Nights two & three of World Tag League, and Night Three of Best of The Super Juniors are right here. These shows were slowed due to delays on NJPW World, not being live streamed like normal. Despite this, everything is now clear – so let’s see who is breaking away in these tournaments – and what matches are worth seeking out.
World Tag League Nights Two & Three Bring Solid But Unremarkable Action
Starting with World Tag League, Night Two began with Guerrillas Of Destiny claiming a win over Tiger Mask & Yuji Nagata. Another set of veterans would fall as Hirooki Goto & YOSHI-HASHI got a win over TenKoji, and finally Great Bash Heel fell to Hiroshi Tanahashi & Toru Yano. Not a good one for the veteran teams of NJPW.
United Empire would get on the scoreboard with a win over House of Torture, SANADA & Naito defeated Suzuki-Gun, and finally Dangerous Tekkers overcame the challenge of Bad Luck Fale & Chase Owens. The notable matches here are Tekkers vs. Fale & Owens, and CHAOS vs. TenKoji – but nothing essential.
On Night Three, Tanahashi & Yano picked up yet another win – going over Tiger Mask IV & Yuji Nagata. The United Empire are also picking up steam, beating Minoru Suzuki & TAKA Michinoku. BULLET CLUB clashed with the subgroup House Of Torture, with Fale & Owens coming out with the win.
SANADA & Naito got the win over Great Bash Heel, Tekkers beat TenKoji, and Goto & YOSHI-HASHI overcame Guerrillas Of Destiny in a must see main event. The leaders are becoming clear, with three teams all neck and neck already.
World Tag League Standings
Hiroshi Tanahashi & Toru Yano, Tetsuya Naito & SANADA, Dangerous Tekkers – 6 Points
Goto & YOSHI-HASHI, Guerrillas Of Destiny, Fale & Owens, United Empire – 4 Points
TenKoji, Yuji Nagata & Tiger Mask – 2 Points
Great Bash Heel, House of Torture, Minoru Suzuki & TAKA Michinoku – 0 Points
El Desperado Finally Gets A Win In Best Of The Super Juniors
Next up is Best of The Super Juniors, with Night Three kicking off as El Phantamso stopped the winning streak of DOUKI to finally get on the board. BUSHI ensured YOH stayed at zero points, and SHO kept his forward drive with a win over Ryusuke Taguchi. Taiji Ishimori beat Robbie Eagles in a hard fought match worth seeking out, and Hiromu Takahahi took down Yoshinobu Kanemaru.
Main event saw Master Wato take El Desperado to the limit, lasting twenty minutes before being taken down by the reigning IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion. This finally gets Desperado on the board, and hopefully in a better mental state going into his next match.
Best Of The Super Juniors Standings
SHO – 6 Points
DOUKI, BUSHI, Taiji Ishimori, Hiromu Takahashi, Yoshinobu Kanemaru – 4 Points
Robbie Eagles, Master Wato, El Phantasmo, El Desperado – 2 Points
YOH – 0 Points
