What better way to close out a year of AEW than a huge ten man tag team match. On one side, we have Matt Hardy, Private Party and FTR. The other has Christian Cage, Jurassic Express, and the AEW World Tag Team Champions – The Lucha Bros! There are a lot of combustible elements at play here, with Hardy & Cage as long time rivals, and three contenders sharing the ring with the tag champs. Before the match, Jim Ross got a big entrance after kicking cancers ass. It’s Wednesday night, AND YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS!
Big Match Feel For This Star Studded Ten Man Tag
Wheeler would kick things off with Christian, and they’d feel each out. Christian would get a wrist lock and Wheeler was able to grapple his way free before running into a flapjack. The downward punches in the corner got both members of FTR, before Jungle Boy got the tag. After a double hip toss, Wheeler retreated to the corner and tagged in Harwood.
They’d trade heavy blows in the corner, before Harwood got dropped with some big elbow strikes and a dropkick. Wheeler went into the wrong corner and everyone got a punch in. Christian was back legal, and would choke Harwood on the ropes before a slap and a reverse slingshot.
Jungle Boy tagged in and looked for the Snare Trap – only for Wheeler to make the save. Isaiah Kassidy tagged in and Rey Fenix was soon after – with Lucha Bros getting a big tag team move. Quen would tag in and hit a rushing boot, before launching Jungle Boy into a Side Effect from Matt Hardy. The sleeper hold would be applied, but Jungle Boy fought free and nailed the Comebacker lariat.
Christian Cage Couldn’t Co-Exist With Jurassic Express
Penta tagged in and nailed a set of Slingblades, before Fenix helped him cut down FTR with nicks and a double DDT. Fenix hit a massive Senton Atomico, but Quen kicked out at two! Muscle Buster was set, but Kassidy helped Quen counter into a DDT. Harwood tagged in and nailed a Gordbuster for a two count.
Fenxi fought back with a moonsault press, before tagging in the big man – Luchasarus. He’d flapjack Kassidy halfway out of the arena before stacking up FTR in the corner. Running boots and splashes met opponents in corners, and Private Party were cleared out with lariats. FTR avoided a double chokeslam, but Wheeler took a tailwhip and Harwood a chokeslam.
Penta tagged himself in, and there was some tension there between him and Luchasarus. After a backstabber, this one broke down into a brawl – and even Blade & Jora Johl at ringside got attacked by Luchasarus. Penta was left in the ring with Harwood, but Christian tagged himself in and walked right into Big Rig for the finish!
