MJF for two years in a row has claimed the Dynamite Diamond Ring. He’s used it to great effect in matches against the likes of Billy Gunn, Jon Moxley, Darby Allin & Chris Jericho – being a bit of a crutch for when his wrestling skills aren’t quite enough. Last week, he made the final two alongside the upstart Dante Martin, and will need to defeat him tonight to keep the ring.
MJF Needs Some Promo Time, Goes After CM Punk One More Time
Before this one could get going, MJF would get the microphone. After running through his hometown insults, he’d go to CM Punk. Punk called MJF out for taking low hanging fruits, before spending ten minutes being hyper fixated on the New York Islanders.
MJF would call CM Punk the new Ryback, having an underwhelming undefeated streak against weak opponents. Meanwhile, MJF has beaten Hangman Page – and can do it again. He knows Dante Martin is great, but the only young talent that matters is standing in the ring. It’ll take more than a freak athlete to beat MJF. He doesn’t claim to be Best in The World – he just shows it.
Dante Martin Gets Screwed By Ricky Starks
It’s a new ring this time, valued at $100k. MJF would start with a headlock takeover, getting a two count. Martin would try to drop down on MJF, only to get stomped. Leapfrogging would be better, as it hit a monkey flip. Martin would casually hit a Rolling Thunder Style 450, before looking for Nose Dive as MJF fled the ring.
MJF would avoid two more dives, and on the second Nose Dive attempt – shoved Martin into the barricade, but not before a knee to the face caught MJF. The arm took the impact on the barricade, setting up that Salt Of The Earth armbar. He’d bite at the fingers, but a powerbomb saw Martin get the Victory Roll for a two count.
MJF would get a two count off a roll up, but got caught with his feet on the bottom rope. Martin would trip MJF up to the outside, and soared over the top with a big dive. He kept trying to get MJF in the ring, but kept hitting dives when he slipped out, before hitting a springboard Shooting Star Press.
Back in the ring, Nose Dive would again be blocked by the age old tactic of “Walk away”, but Martin got a big leg lariat in the corner. He’d roll MJF up for two, before MJF would try to win off some side headlock takeovers. A sunset flip started a pin exchange, ending with MJF nailing a Liger Bomb for a very near fall!
Martin would get the Nose Dive, but Ricky Starks rushed the ring to screw Martin by getting MJF’s foot on the ropes. MJF locked in Salt Of The Earth, and now has won the Dynamite Diamond Ring three times!
Dante Martin is insanely impressive, and showed his skills tonight. MJF however is just a smarter wrestler, and the early damage to the arm paid off huge. Match Rating: 3.5/5 (*** 1/2)
After the match, the lights went out. Sting & Darby Allin were there to crash the victory party and get some blows in on FTR. MJF would help FTR get the edge, but CM Punk with a steel pipe would rush the ring and scatter the Pinnacle. CM Punk called for trios action, him, Sting & Darby Allin vs. The Pinnacle! Who will win?
