This past week had perhaps the greatest televised match in professional wrestling history. For the first hour of AEW Dynamite: Winter Is Coming, Bryan Danielson & Hangman Page went to war. They went the full sixty minute time limit, with Page nailing the Buckshot Lariat with just seconds left on the clock – not enough to even make the pinfall. It was an epic by all means of the word, and this feud is not over.
Bryan Danielson Remains The #1 Contender For AEW World Championship
While speaking on Busted Open Radio, AEW owner Tony Khan would confirm that a rematch is already in the works. Everyone was eager to know if that was the next move for Page, and Khan would have the following to say on the subject.
“I’ll be honest: I’m excited for what’s coming next between Hangman Page and Bryan Danielson. It’s far from over. And I’ll tell you this: Bryan Danielson is still the no. 1 contender,” he said, “It’s a rematch I’m very much excited to see.”
When Will This Rematch Happen?
It’s likely this rematch will be saved for a PPV event, as there isn’t much chance of them topping this encounter on TV. If this match will be done on TV, it will be on the debut episode of Dynamite on TBS – giving a major match to build hype for this event. Starting them off faster than the first encounter could see them giving fans an equally thrilling thirty minute encounter, which would give a different feeling than their drawn out marathon.
Another choice is keeping this match for the special “Battle Of The Belts”, which is set to be a one hour special set for January 8th. However, Riho vs. Britt Baker is already set for that night, and likely an AEW World Tag Team Championship match also joining the card: there isn’t much time for Danielson & Page to try and top their Winter is Coming battle.
