Fans have been wanting to Walk With Elias once again, but it’s hard when he’s been off TV for several months now. The last we saw of Elias was back in August, when he was cutting promos in a graveyard. This was set to be the end of his musician gimmick, but with the months passing and Elias not showing up in the WWE Draft – fans are curious what is happening with him.
Elias Is Stuck In Limbo With WWE
Right now, WWE is still trying to find a new character for Elias. He was close to making it back to TV, complete with colorful new trunks – but Vince McMahon and the other top brass would have an issue with this. A report from WrestleVotes would state the following.
“Interesting note on Elias, source states they had no end plan for graveyard vignettes. Just shot them to kill off the “music” gimmick. His initial rebranding weeks back looked too similar to Randy Savage w/ colorful trunks & beard so Vince & co didn’t like it. Back to square one.”
This is sadly very on brand for WWE. They had no ideas beyond scraping his previous gimmick, and now Elias is just hanging out in WWE with nothing to do. The comparisons to Macho Man are easy to see, as Elias already has a similar hair style and beard to the WWE legend.
NXT 2.0 Could Help
The answer here might be as simple as sending Elias down to NXT 2.0. They are potentially going to be out two veteran names, as the contracts of Johnny Gargano & Kyle O’Reilly have their contracts ending very soon.
Others such as Finn Balor & Mandy Rose have returned to NXT and were able to turn their careers around. Elias could do the same. He was originally booted from NXT, having lost a ‘Loser Leaves NXT’ match, but with the rebrand to NXT 2.0 – it’s safe to assume that stipulation is now not an issue.
NXT 2.0 has it’s flaws, but WWE has been building stars down there right now. Elias could become another project down there, which might really kickstart a new era of his career. What gimmick would you give Elias? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
