Ben, for his part, raised significant eyebrows when he made comments which had suggested that he would still have been drinking had he remained in his marriage with Jennifer.
He went on to speak about feeling ‘trapped.’ And given that these comments raised a lot of controversy, Ben had to come out and clarify them.
The actor spoke on how he wanted to avoid his family from being split up, which left him ‘trapped’ rather than actually blaming Jennifer for his problems.
In an official statement to People magazine, Jennifer said: “This story is simply not true. It is not how I feel. I couldn’t have more respect for Ben as a father, a co-parent, and a person.”
The primary reason why Jennifer has been credited with being angry is because of the fact that she and Jennifer (G) are in a similar position. Not only do they both have children, but they have also had to go through co-parenting.
As such, there was a feeling that Jennifer might have been outraged by Ben’s comments, especially since Jennifer (G) is still a part of her children’s lives. Thus, it would have been disrespectful to comment about her in this way.
And yet, sources claim that the pair could not be any happier. One source revealed: “[The couple are] in a really great space and really happy.”
While another remarked: “For the holidays, they look forward to spending time with their children.” Jennifer and Ben are in a really good place. They have been through a lot together, which is why Ben’s conduct is very important going forward.
It looks as though he has managed to overcome his substance abuse issues with alcohol, but there is still a lot of work that needs doing when it comes to being aware of what he should say in public.
Hopefully, this experience will have the impact of teaching him to be more mindful over making negative comments towards the mother of his children.
