Tonight is the final night of what has been a thrilling dual tournament run for NJPW. In the undercard of a show like this, wrestlers look to find spots on Tokyo Dome with their tournament dreams being dead. NJPW brings great action from top to bottom on big shows, and with less than a month from their biggest shows of the year? This one is going to be a very interesting ride.
Suzuki-Gun Won’t Fall To Young Lions
Kicking off the night has Suzuki-Gun taking on Ryusuke Taguchi and two Young Lions, Yuto Nakashima & Kosei Fujita. Minoru Suzuki is pissed at TAKA Michinoku for costing them every match in World Tag League, but they surely won’t lose to Young Lions?
Nakashima was determined to lock up with Suzuki, or perhaps it’s a deathwish. Fujita would start with Suzuki and shoot for a double leg, only to be completely stopped and put into a side headlock. Suzuki would move it right into a crossface, and Fujita was lucky to get the bottom rope.
Nakashima would get his chance with Suzuki, throwing forearms while Suzuki laughed at him, and got him with a slap right under the ear. Michinoku got the tag in, with Taguchi following. He’d go for the Three Amigos, and was able to hit them before going for his variant of the Boma-Ye for a two count, before grabbing the ankle lock.
Michinoku would look for the Just Face Lock after getting the ropes, but lost control of Taguchi. Fujita & DOUKI got tags, and DOUKI was almost tapped out with a Boston Crab! He’d survive an Inside Cradle before applying the DOUKI CHOKIE, with this forcing the submission.
Taiji Ishimori & El Phantasmo Want The IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championships, So Does Ryusuke Taguchi
Up next, we got more Young Lion action as one half of the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions, Tiger Mask IV, teams with Ryohei Oiwa. They got in alongside BULLET CLUB’s Cutest Tag Team, Taiji Ishimori & El Phantasmo! Neither man was able to make the BOSJ finals, but had strong runs. Tiger Mask IV was in the World Tag League with Yuji Nagata, getting just one win.
Tiger Mask & Ishimori would start this match, with Ishimori dodging a roundhouse kick but taking all of the mule kick and running into the tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Oiwa worked with Tiger for a shoulder tackle, before a big dropkick landed. Ishimori would fight Oiwa to the mat and apply the Yes! Lock, with Tiger Mask saving him.
Oiwa would nail an Okada level dropkick, before taking the Sudden Death superkick for the KO and pinfall. After the match, Tiger Mask IV was beat down and Robbie Eagles would make the save.Ryusuke Tagiuchi would also make the save, and attacked the champions – before shouting out Rocky Romero! Could we be on our way to a three way at WK16?
Suzuki-Gun Are On Fire Tonight
The odd team of Toru Yano, Togi Makabe, Tomoaki Honma & Master Wato were up next – taking on the rest of Suzuki-Gun. Suzuki-Gun hit hard and fast, dragging everyone outside for a brawl. Yoshinobu Kanemaru would douse Yano in alcohol, dragging in the ring and gouging his eyes. Wato got the tag, and would square up with El Desperado.
Desperado would take a rolling solebutt kick, knocking him over. The kicks of Wato have been getting better and better, but he’d still be sent to the outside. After some beatings, he’d be taken into the Suzuki-Gun corner for some punishment at the hand of Tekkers, with ZSJ wrapping him up and Taichi getting the Greco Roman Throat Hold.
Makabe would save Wato, but was dropped with a kick from Taichi. He’d be able to block the Axe Bomber, before Honma somehow found himself getting a submission on ZSJ. This wouldn’t last, and he’d try to get a Kokeshi for the win, but missed. Yano tried to save him from the triangle choke, but Kanemaru spit whiskey in his eyes – Santori Suprise is back! He wants KOPW 2021, and there’s not much time left!
Hiroshi Tanahashi Leads The NJPW Dads To Victory
Up next, we got BULLET CLUB with the unit of Tama Tonga, Tanga Loa, Bad Luck Fale & Chase Owens with the MASSIVE HEATER – Jado! They get the team of Hiroshi Tanahashi, Yuji Nagata, Hiroyoshi Tenzan & Satoshi Kojima. BULLET CLUB shockingly attacked before the bell , with TenKoji fighting back.
Loa was taken into the corner for Machine Gun chops, with him responding with colorful language, and getting machine gun chops of his own… right to Kojimas nipples. Fale tagged in and used the Tongan Massage Parlor on Kojima.
Tama nailed the Mongolian Chops, tempting Tenzan at ringside who isn’t allowed to use them… but still does. Kojima got the tag to Nagata, and Blue Justice would catch Loa with a big Butterfly Suplex. Tanahashi would tag in and throw Dragon Screws like crazy, before taking Jewel Heist from Chase Owens.
All hell broke loose, with everyone throwing strikes. Owens & Tanahashi kept the ring, with Tanahashi setting up High Fly Flow with a Slingblade, but missing on the way down. C-Trigger would land, but Tanahashi would catch him with a roll up for the win.
After the match, we’d hear from KENTA who knows that Tanahashi wants the IWGP United States Championship back. He’ll accept but only if it’s No DQ rules! Tanahashi quickly accepts!
Will Tanahashi win back gold at Wrestle Kingdom? Who will challenge for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championships? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
