A TikTok video has sparked controversy after a black female UPS driver claimed that she had been racially profiled during the course of delivering packages.
TikTok Video Shows A Black Female UPS Driver Claiming To Be A Victim Of Police Racial Profiling
The woman in question, NaKisha Ferguson, was outraged when the police decided to pull her over on the grounds that her parking was not lawful.
However, NaKisha felt that she had done nothing wrong. There was nowhere else to park on that street, as well as the fact that it would have been impossible for her to park somewhere that was miles away and then end up walking to the place of delivery.
In addition, she claimed that many other drivers had done this without any problems, which begs the question as to why the police decided to pull her over.
In the video here, we can see that NaKisha is wearing her work uniform as the UPS logo is clearly visible. The officers, from the San Francisco Police Department, in the background are wondering what to do next as one officer communicates from his radio handset.
NaKisha is then heard saying the following: “I am a UPS driver in full brown. Delivering packages. And I get pulled over for double parking for two seconds to deliver a fuckin’ package.
“I wanna see you pull over somebody else, another driver. Since it’s a Black girl, I get a ticket.” The video instantly went viral with over 1.5 million views and counting.
Naturally, a lot of people had something to say on the matter with many feeling that this was a case of racial profiling. One person wrote: “As a Deputy Sheriff. You don’t ticket delivery folk. This appears to be racial profiling.”
While another stated: “So instead of 1 UPS truck double parked now there’s 3-4 more cars double parked for hella longer than it would have taken to just let her deliver & go.”
The San Francisco Police Department have yet to respond to this claim, but given what we have seen so far, the very fact that they pulled over the driver in the first place has only gone on to cause them more embarrassment.
