Talk show host Trevor Noah has decided to sue a New York doctor in response to some surgery that went wrong.
Trevor Noah Sues Doctor After Surgery Procedure Leaves Him With ‘Serious Personal Injury’
According to reports, Trevor decided to get the procedure at ‘The Hospital for Special Surgery.’ He had specifically seen Dr. Riley J. Williams in 2020.
But after having had the procedure, he was not best pleased. The court documents go on to allege that “he went under the knife last year for an undisclosed condition and the defendants — the Hospital for Special Surgery and Dr. Riley J. Williams — were ‘careless in failing to treat and care for [him] in a careful and skillful manner.”
This is a very strong statement, but not one without foundation. Trevor had based his case on the following grounds. First of all, it is claimed that the doctor had prescribed the incorrect amount of medication by not stopping it when he should have done so.
Not only that, but the lawsuit alleges that the actual medication was not proper too. Secondly, the court documents suggest that the consultation between Trevor and the doctor was not conducted in an appropriate manner.
Therefore, “had Noah been adequately informed of the risks, hazards and alternatives, he would have refused treatment altogether.”
Thirdly, it is claimed that this experience had an emotional impact on him to the point where his mental health had been affected as Trevor had “suffered a loss of enjoyment for life.”
In response, representatives for the hospital have apparently stated that there is nothing to answer by way of the lawsuit. This would suggest that Trevor had come to the decision himself and therefore is fully responsible for any risks that could occur.
If this is taken to be true, then it is extremely unlikely for the star to be able to have any form of redress. Just when you thought that was bad enough, the star has alleged that he has been left with long-term damage as a result of the procedure.
The lawsuit confirmed as much: “[Trevor has suffered] serious personal injury [and the damage is] permanent, severe and grievous.”
