The Acclaimed have climbed the rankings in AEW, and are once again at #1. Tonight they meet some familiar foes in Bear Country. Caster trained with them at Create-A-Pro Wrestling, but tonight there will be no friendships across the ring. On their entrance rap, The Acclaimed took a shot at Sting & Darby Allin.
The Acclaimed Hunt Bear Country
Starting this one off fast, Bear Country would run The Acclaimed down with shoulder tackles before stacking them up with slams. Bowens was isolated in the corner for some elbow strikes, but he’d be able to slip free and get the superkick and a tag to Caster – who dove in with a crossbody.
Bear Bronson would be choked on the ropes by Caster, before some quick tags from The Acclaimed would have him isolated. It’d be noted on commentary that no team has more tag team wins in AEW than The Acclaimed, though most of these came on Dark and Dark: Elevation. Bowens would nail a snug neckbreaker for a two count, before locking in the headlock.
Boulder would be hyped up and wanting the tag – and Bronson would be able to get, The Acclaimed would be thrown around with ease, but the Double Chokeslam was too ambitious – though the double flatliner landed. Bear Country looked for Bear Bomb, but Bowens saved Caster. Bronson was legal again, but took his eyes off the prize and got rolled up for a two count. Caster would set up and nail Mic Drop, claiming the win in the process.
After the match, the hunters would become the hunted as Sting & Darby Allin’s music would hit. Sting had his baseball bat – and Allin with a wild suicide dive. Bowens couldn’t use his boombox with Sting slamming his bat on it – and would not go any better to close things out.
Daniel Garcia Starts Fast
Sammy Guevara was able to claim the interim TNT Championship at Battle of The Belts this past weekend, but he will need to hold it long enough to get another shot at Cody Rhodes. His first challenger emerged quickly, as Daniel Garcia rushed him down. Red Death is one big win away from becoming a star in AEW, and tonight could be his night to shine.
Jericho & Kingston were at ringside for this one, both in the corner of Guevara. Garcia & Guevara would start off fast with some sprawling strikes. The big right hand from Garcia dropped Guevara before a PK to the spine. Guevara followed up with a lariat to the outside and a big dive would follow.
Back in the ring, Guevara hit a stiff overhand chop before looking for GTH. Garcia fought free, and caught a flying Guevara right into a backbreaker. Guevara rolled out of the ring, but was taken right back in for a knee drop to the spine. A sunset flip would be countered into a Boston Crab, but Guevara got the bottom rope.
Sammy Guevara Gets To Carry The Belt To A Match With Cody Rhodes
Guevara would try to fight back into this but took a hard elbow to the back of the face. Garcia would avoid a springboard attempt from Guevara by going outside, only for Guevara to nail the double springboard to the floor. Back in the ring, Guevara got cocky and took a lariat to the back of the head and a backdrop driver for a two count.
Garcia took a second too long watching the crowd as he looked for a sharpshooter and almost paid for it. Guevara looked for the GTH but was countered into a tight sharpshooter. However, the ropes were near and Guevara got them.
Guevara would dodge a charge from Garcia, but blocked the double jump springboard into a rear naked choke. Garcia would move into a bulldog choke before a piledriver for a two count. 2point0 would jump Kingston & Jericho on the outside, and Garcia would set up another piledriver. Instead, he’d take a knee strike but the GTH was blocked by a distraction. Guevara would take out 2point0 and hit GTH for the win.
After the bell, Jericho & Kingston would beat down 2point0 before almost coming to blows. Will Kingston & Jericho meet at the next AEW PPV? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
