Over the past two days, a select group of fans got to watch some of the best wrestling on the planet. This was not the fans watching the Royal Rumble in WWE, but the fans in the Globe Theatre who got tickets for Battle of Los Angeles 2022. This is the first tournament since 2019, after COVID-19 shut down PWG for the bulk of the last two years. With the likes of JONAH, Buddy Matthews, Bandido, Lio Rush and more in the field – it was a hard fought tournament, but Daniel Garcia was able to walk away with the cup.
Daniel Garcia’s Path To Victory
This was not an easy accomplishment, requiring Garica to win four matches in the span of just 48 hours. He defeated Kevin Blackwood in the opening round, one of his closest friends and best rivals. In the second round, he had AAA & Impact Wrestling standout Black Taurus, one of the strongest men in the tournament – but Garcia was able to overcome.
His third match was the legendary Alex Shelley, who was a favourite to win the tournament this year. Garcia previously lost to Shelley in Beyond Wrestling in 2021, and got his win back in PWG. Finally, he defeated Mike Bailey to join the list of greats who can claim to have won Battle of Los Angeles.
Will AEW Mention This On TV?
This brings up a question of if AEW will acknowledge this win for Garcia. He’s been on the AEW roster for about a year now, and has been consistently making it into the main event slot as he faced the likes of Eddie Kingston & Sammy Guevara. Alongside 2point0, he’s been one of the best parts of AEW lately – but now he has something to help him look even more legitimate.
AEW recently acknowledged Brody King & Malakai Black as the PWG World Tag Team Champions, which would make it likely that this accolade gets at least mentioned on AEW TV. However, there’s a major difference between how AEW presents Garcia and how he’s shown on the indies. There was zero cheating needed for him to beat the best of the best in BOLA, while in AEW he tends to rely on the help of 2point0 to win most matches.
Will AEW acknowledge this win, and start to show us the true Daniel Garcia? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
