Elliot Page and Lilly Wachowski have decided to work together in the hope that they can shoot down a new bill that aims to limit healthcare to transgenders in Arkansas.

According to reports, the duo decided to file a lawsuit which aims to counter the following House Bill 1570. This bill has the intention of trying to prevent doctors from being able to provide any transgender youth medical treatment, and instead referring them to another department.
While the bill has been passed, the very fact of the matter is that this lawsuit has prevented it from coming into effect. It is not surprising to see Elliot and Lilly get behind this cause by virtue of the fact that they are both transgenders.
And this is something that they have not hidden despite the media scrutiny that has followed. After all, it is no secret that Elliot has not been in as big movies as she was before her decision to come out.
Meanwhile, for Lilly, there has not been a noticeable difference given that she is a director. The response to this has been very supportive from the medical community.
A certain subset of people believe that it is ultimately a choice for each individual to decide what medical care they should get. This is irrespective of their beliefs, or the very way in which they choose to identify themselves.
But in reality, at a time where medical resources are stretched, others argue that there are more important things that need prioritising rather than transgender issues.
However, in an official statement given by the American Psychiatric Association, a representative stated: “Patients and their physicians, not policymakers, should be the ones to make decisions together about what care is best for them.”
There is still a long way to go in determining whether Elliot and Lilly’s support will lead to a different result. Regardless of the outcome of the dispute, this has shown that the two will continue to fight for transgender rights until the end.
