It looks as though Jennifer Lopez left Spain over the weekend as filming of The Mother was halted. The sudden exit comes as the film’s Gran Canaria location experienced an outbreak of COVID-19.
Jennifer Lopez Dips on Spain Due to COVID-19 Outbreak
Page Six was the first snag to photos of the 52-year-old actress hopping on a private jet to return to the U.S. She arrived in Gran Canaria last week to shoot the film. J-Lo is now back in Los Angeles as she spotted out and about with rekindled flame Ben Affleck. Local publication La Provincia reported that Jennifer Lopez was in Gran Canaria to film several scenes for The Mother throughout the week and had arrived that same week.

She was able to be incognito while filming as she was finally spotted Wednesday before leaving on Saturday. So, it was a short business trip and was going to be short anyway. The Mother is an action movie about an assassin who comes out of hiding to protect the daughter she had to abandon. It’s not the most unique plot but it sounds like something I’d rock with, honestly.
The movie co-starred Gael García Bernal (Amazon’s Mozart in the Jungle), Omari Hardwick (Kick-Ass, Power, Being Mary Jane and Army of the Dead), and Joseph Fiennes (Shakespeare in Love, Hercules, American Horror Story: Asylum, and The Handmaid’s Tale). Needless to say, there were some good names onboard for this project
The J-Lo co-produced film was slated for Netflix and it’s currently unknown if production will remain suspended indefinitely or if filming with be moved to another location. If it remains suspended indefinitely, it could be some time before shooting resumes while picking a new location is costly but would get things back on track.A bright point here is that the film didn’t have an announced release date set so only the production is being pushed back.
