Former ‘Bachelor’ lead Matt James has spoken on how his relationship with Rachael Kirkconnell could not be in a better place in what has been a difficult period for the couple.
Matt James And Rachael Kirkconnell Are ‘Doing Very Well’
The duo were subjected to heavy scrutiny after Rachael’s prior social media activity came to the fore after she posted some photos of herself in college, which were then deemed to be perpetuating racism.
That put a dent on their initial relationship, as it was unclear whether Matt would be able to forgive her.
Not only that, Matt understood that if he did pursue a relationship with Rachael, he could also be subjected to scrutiny by virtue of the fact that people might have interpreted his actions as endorsing Rachael’s conduct.
But with time, the pair have managed to get over their problems. In an interview with Fox News, Matt said: “We’re doing very well. It’s been a lot of fun to enjoy life with her out of the spotlight this past year and this year, you know.”
And once the show had concluded, the pair managed to take their time and discuss things away from the camera screens.
After all, Matt had made it clear that he would want to see Rachael learn more about the issues affecting the black community and this is something that she did.
Although a certain subset of people felt that the pair had reconciled too quickly, there is no denying the fact that the two could not be any happier after talking things out.
He added: “Communication [was key]. Spending time with each other. Getting to know each other. Trusting each other.
“And when you do that and you have those elements in a relationship, I feel like it’s pretty standard that things start to fall into place.” And the proof is in the pudding.
Matt has managed to stay relevant and increase his fan base which was shown when he recently took part on the hit show ‘Dancing with the Stars.’
