Prince Harry May Pay The Price For Moving To The United States As He Is On The Verge Of Losing “Counsellors Of State” Status
First, Counsellors of State are only used for constitution duties of the sovereign, of which there are very few things Queen Elizabeth is constitutionally required to do”. Nevertheless, the Queen is fully aware that Prince Harry will lose his “Counsellors of State” status if he keeps on living in the United States.
The Royal expert further stated “Another reason why Prince Harry doesn’t need to be removed as a Counsellors of State now is because he is going to be ineligible in a few years anyway.
One of the requirements to be a Counsellors of State, is you have to be domiciled in the UK. The UK law states you lose domiciled status if you leave the UK, and are a non-UK resident for six tax years”.
For now, Prince Harry remains the only Counsellor of State in Britain. A Counsellor of State has the power to perform the responsibilities of Queen Elizabeth if she is indisposed due to sickness or travel. Before January 2022, Prince Harry together with Prince Andrew were the only members of the British Royal family vested with the “Counsellors of State” status.
But Prince Andrew had his royal title taken away from him due to the claims of sexual assault that he was accused of, which left the Duke of Duchess, Harry as the only human vested with the “Counsellor of State” status in Britain.
Until now, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have not returned to Great Britain since 2020, after withdrawing as High-ranking Royals. they are currently residents of Los Angeles, United States with their children.
