What better way to kick off the biggest indy show of the year than with a huge Battle Royal. Sponsored by PBR, it’s the Blue Ribbon Battle Royal. Is there stakes to speak off? Even GCW doesn’t know- but the first one to the ring is AAA star Psycho Clown. After a quick part with the crowd, we’d see that the second entrant is Dark Sheik. Cole Radrick and a Pero filled the starting lineup.
A Who’s Who Of Indy Wrestling In One Ring To Kick Off The Show
Action would start fast, and Hoodfoot would be #5 into the ring. Psycho Clown would attack Sheik, and Radrick nailed a lionsault on her. Pollo & Hoodfoot would but heads, before indy legend Rukus hit the ring. Ruckus would hit a big back handspring elbow, and KTB would hit the ring. Juicy Finau was next, as KTB hit the moonsault on Pollo.
The ring was getting full up, and The Selfie King hit the ring – and Nate Webb would come to the ring to a massive reaction. Hoodfoot hit a backdrop driver, with Big Vin and Janai Kai would following. Dustin Thomas would hit the ring – and without legs you have to imagine he’s got an advantage in a Battle Royale. He managed to a tornado DDT and area code kick all the same.
Ruckus hit a moonsault legdrop in the ring, as Cole Radrick was sent out of the ring. Charles Mason would hit a DDT on Psycho Clown to start his time in the match – but Clown didn’t go over the top. B-Boy would make his way to the ring, and he’d start work on YO-YA. Hoodfoot was taken out of the match, and Dark Sheik would follow. The legendary Lu Fisto was in next – with Dustin Thomas being taken out.
Who Expected Thunder Rosa Tonight?
Thunder Rosa would be next, a star known by fans of AEW. LuFisto was giving out backdrops like crazy, taking out Nate Weeb and B-Boy. Rosa would take Parrow out with a hurricanrana – giving us the final four. Big Vin and Mason would be taken down, before LuFisto & Rosa squared off.
Rosa hit a big enzuguri, before Mason threw her out of the ring. LuFisto dropped both men, before Big Vin put her on the apron and Mason bumped her off. Big Vin channelled his father, 911 – and hit a massive chokeslam in the same arena that his dad hit many in for the win. He’d share a beer with his dad at ringside, before heading off to the back.
Fast Paced Action In Six Way Clash
With the likes of Ninja Mack, Jack Cartwheel and Alex Zayne in the mix for a six way – it could be nothing less than a potential show stealer. While this match resides on the pre-show, getting to wrestle in Hammerstein Ballroom doesn’t happen every day – and it’s not a chance you take lightly. Grim Reefer, Shane Mercer, and Dante Leon would fill out the field.
Action started fast, with Mercer nailing Reefer with a pop up powerslam before diving to the floor. Cartwheel & Mack followed with Sasuke Specials before Zayne and Leon hit twisting presses. Reefer would light up, before diving to the floor. Cartwheel would be dropped by Reefer, before Ninja Mack showed some insane speed before calling for the Peoples Moonsault.
Leon would hit the ring with a cutter to Mack, before Shane Mercer would get Leon with a super death valley driver. Zayne was cut down by Cartwheel, who was ran down by the powerhouse of Mercer. Mack was used as a weapon off an X-Plex, before Reefer would apply the crossface. Zayne would set up an electric chair on Leon, before Mack took them both down.
Reefer was chucked across the ring by Mercer before Zayne was hit with a powerbomb – and then a shooting star press. Mercer took a chair shot and a low blow, before Reefer was almost sent through the chair. Instead Reefer hit a DDT onto the chair for the win!
