Jay White is finally here in AEW, and he’s joined the battle against Best Friends. Tonight he takes on Trent Beretta, who is also part of the NJPW faction CHAOS. As the leader of BULLET CLUB, and an ex-member of CHAOS – there is a lot going on here, but at the end of the day, in AEW? White is just here to help Adam Cole get rid of some pests. Really, White has wanted revenge on Trent ever since he coined the nickname ‘Knife Pervert’ for Switchblade.
Serena Deeb Takes Out A Rookie In Three Minutes Left On The Clock
First however, we have the Professors Five Minute challenge. Serena Deeb is starting to buy her own hype, and has taken to calling out rookies for five minute challenges. Last time, this led to her getting a submission victory within a minute. Tonight, we will once again see a rookie step up and try to out wrestle the professor.
Angelica Risk would step up tonight, and looked confident. The clock started and Deeb quickly got a hammerlock applied. Risk turned it around before being tripped up, and getting her back stomped. Deeb would drive Risk into the corner as we passed the one minute mark, running Risk down before hitting the slingshot.
Taking a look at the clock, Deeb knew she had this match won and was playing with her food. A European uppercut set up the Powerbomb. Finally, with Risk already down and out – Serenity Lock was applied, and this one was over with three minutes left on the clock. Deeb was getting a lot of cheers here, as AEW fans respect damn solid technical wrestling.
Breathe With The Switchblade
White would lock up hard with Trent, before shoving him into the corner. The quick strikes of Switchblade would land before Trent shot back with a chop. White was thrown off the ropes and was driven down with a back elbow from Trent. Trent was able to block the DDT attempt with a release Northern Lights Suplex.
This one went to the outside, where Trent would drive White into the barricades. Back into the ring, White would take refuge on the ropes. White would sucker Trent in, and nail the Saito Suplex over the ropes – with Trent having the apron to soften his fall as he landed neck first. Trent would be driven back first onto the apron next, before nailing the Dragon Screw in the ring. He’d play some air guitar and mock Hiroshi Tanahashi, who wrestles SANADA later tonight.
White would apply a perfect Muta Lock in the middle of the ring, forcing Trent to make the long crawl to the ropes. Trent would be bounced off the top rope with a suplex, getting White a two count. White would be sent outside, where Trent would hit a sky high Asai Moonsault. Back in the ring, the tornado DDT was blocked, and White hit the flatliner into deadlift German Suplex for a near fall.
Jay White Shuts Down Trent With Blade Runner
Trent was able to bounce back with the Tornado DDT, getting a two count before driving some forearm shots into the face of White. White again took refuge on the bottom rope, and Trent this time just dropkicked him to the outside. Trent set up the spear, and took a knee to the face before a single underhook suplex right through a steel chair.
White would follow up in the ring with the heavy Uranage, but Trent shot back with a backdrop driver. The running knee strike almost saw Trent run into the Blade Runner, but he made the counter for the Half & Half Suplex. Running knee would follow, before the Strong Zero was set, before White hit a shoulder thrust to get some space.
White would be dropped with a lariat from Trent before the sitout piledriver got a near fall. Strong Zero was set up, but White slipped right into Blade Runner for the victory. After the bell, Orange Cassidy would ensure Trent didn’t get any post-match beatdown.
