Bella Thorne has urged United States President Joe Biden to intervene and come to the aid of Cuban citizens in light of the country’s increasing government control.

Cuba and the United States have historically had a difficult relationship, which resulted in the former being subjected to sanctions as a result over the years.
Although that may have been the case, Bella spoke out on the country’s imposition of a new tax that has seen Cuba impose a 10% tax on food sales. And given that the country is experiencing economic hardship, Bella felt that something had to be done.
In an official statement, she called out the Cuban government over its policies. She said: “It’s a heartless move that deeply saddens me and motivates me to want to do even more to fight to bring democracy to Cuba.
“I hold the tyrannical thugs in power accountable for this decision and the wave of brutal suffering it will inflict on the Cuban people.”
This cause is very close to Bella for the following reasons. First of all, not many fans know that she is actually half Cuban. This is as a result of her father, who sadly died in 2007 following a traffic accident.
Secondly, given that Bella has spent her life within the United States as she was born here, it has naturally put her in a situation where she has mixed feelings.
That is why Bella urged President Biden to act before it was too late. She added: “The dictatorship controls everything in Cuba, including media and access to the internet.
“President Biden can work to give more tools to access the internet to Cubans so they can prevent the Cuban government from suppressing activist messages on social media.”
Bella’s comments will certainly get people talking about the issue. But whether it leads to tangible change is anyone’s guess. However, by talking about these issues, she will have the opportunity to raise awareness at the very least.
