At NXT 2.0: Vengeance Day, we saw the first half of the 2022 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic come to an end. The Creed Brothers of Diamond Mine would claim the victory of MSK to win the tournament, but that was just the men’s side of things. Now, we are ready to start the 2022 Women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, and we have eight teams in the field once again.
The Field For The 2022 Women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic
While teams have been teased on NXT 2.0 TV over the past few months, all teams are now confirmed. Much like the men’s tournament, it will be eight teams in a single elimination tournament. The teams are as follows.
-Io Shirai/Kay Lee Ray
-Raquel Gonzales/Cora Jade
-Indi Hartwell/Persia Pirotta
–Dakota Kai/Wendy Choo
-Kacy Catanzaro/Kayden Carter
-Ivy Nile/Tatum Paxley
-Valentina Feroz/Yulisa Leon
-Lash Legend/Amari Miller
Who Are The Favourites To Win?
With a shot at the NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions on the line, all eight teams have clear motivation. Ivy Nile & Tatum Paxley have some extra pressure, with Nile being in Diamond Mine – and having to follow up the performances of The Creed Brothers. Io Shirai & Kay Lee Ray have a clear skill edge as perhaps the best two wrestlers in the division, but have little tag team experience.
Raquel Gonzalez & Cora Jade have been pushed as a top team for the tournament, with Jade having to fight to earn the partnership of Gonzalez. Gonzalez was a winner last year, alongside Dakota Kai. Other teams like Hartwell & Pirotta, and Catanzaro & Carter have some experience teaming giving some better odds.
Valentina Feroz & Yulisa Leon have shown potential. Lash Legend needs to redeem her poor performances in 2021, while Amari Miller is a budding star. Dakota Kai & Wendy Choo are the dark horse pick, being very contrasting characters, but if they can work together – it’s going to be hard to stop them.
