For first time champions, Robbie Eagles & Tiger Mask IV have been really proving themselves as IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions. They were successful in defending their gold at Wrestle Kingdom in a three way match, so when both Team Six or Nine and Suzuki-Gun stepped up and argued they deserved shots more than Taiji Ishimori & El Phantasmo, the choice was easy.
Just put them all in the match, and give the fans a Fatal Four way tag team championship match. It’s one fall to a finish, and champions don’t need to be involved in the finish – ensuring total chaos. Two wrestlers are in the ring at a time, but as people leave the ring someone else can take their place – keeping a steady flow of action.
Fast Paced Action From The Opening Bell
Action would start as soon as Tiger Mask hit the ring and punched Ishimori in the face – revenge for unmasking him recently. Suzuki-Gun would take the ring and drop Tiger Mask with a double team attack for a two count. Ishimori & Phantasmo put Tiger Mask in the tree of woe, before stomping down on the ol’ yam bags.
Eagles would try to save his partner, but was sent right to the outside. Phantasmo looked for a dive onto Eagles, but missed and got all mat. Taguchi & Wato would break down Ishimori, before nearly rolling up Tiger Mask for the victory. Eagles would make the save and get a near fall off the standing sliced bread for a two count.
Kanemaru would hit the ring and take the spinning wheel kick – before Desperado met Phantasmo in the ring. Phantasmo wants a shot at the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion – and would prove his toughness in a chop exchange. Tiger Mask would take the ring but was surrounded by Suzuki-Gun, and found freedom as he nailed a dive to the outside on Taguchi.
Desperado would be sent to the outside by Ishimori, before Kanemaru stomped down his longtime rival – before Ishimori hit the Golden Triangle to Phantasmo on the floor. Wato sent Kanemaru outside and hit the dive to the floor next, before Phantasmo wanted to fly as well. Eagles caught him up top with a frankensteiner, sending him onto the pile on the floor.
Ryusuke Taguchi Achieves His Goal Of Being 69th Champion
Taguchi was in the ring, and Flying Tiger would sandwich him with kicks. Tiger Mask hit the butterfly suplex from the top rope, and Eagles followed up with the 450 Splash. Taguchi was trapped in a double arm lock, and Eagles stopped Desperado from making the save with the Ron Miller Special, before Ishimori & Phantasmo saved the match.
Phantasmo hit the UFO on Eagles, before not wanting to go for Sudden Death. Instead they’d hit a combo lungblower with Ishimori before Kanemaru took him out. Eagles was hit with the moonsault from Kanemaru, but kicked out at two. Tiger Mask would take the ring but took a hip attack from Taguchi but kicked out right into the ankle lock attempt.
Suzuki-Gun broke this attempt up, before Taguchi looked for Dodon and Tiger Mask countered into a pin. Wato made the save with a flying uppercut, before Taguchi would Dodon’s Throne – but the pin was broken up. The Number Nine landed, and we had new champions as Six Or Nine become the 69th IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions.
