On January 15, 16 and Pregnant star Jordan Cashmyer died at the age of 26. This week, the cause of her death has been revealed by her family.

Following Jordan’s death, her family launched a GoFundMe for Lyla, the late personality’s daughter. In the GoFundMe, Jordan’s addiction issues were touched upon as well.

“Lyla lost her father to addiction at two months & now her mother at six months. Our family has to now not only put our daughter to rest but navigate through starting over with an infant who has lost both her parents in her six months of life.”
The father of Jordan Cashmyer closed the post by saying that the family was grateful for the support shown by everyone and those who donated to the GoFundMe and wished that Jordan was at peace.
Jordan first appeared on the tenth episode of 16 and Pregnant’s fifth season in 2014. At the time, she was dating Derek Taylor, the father of her first child Genevieve. That episode detailed the couple’s homelessness, Taylor dodging work, and the troubles that came with that and having a baby.
Jordan’s Life Following 16 and Pregnant
In the epilogue of the episode, Jordan and Derek had separated and initially, custody of young Genevieve was shared between her parents and Taylor. Custody was later handed over to Derek’s mother. Later in 2014, it was revealed that Jordan Cashmyer was working in a strip club.
The 2010s were hard for Jordan as she dealt with addiction, worked as an escort, got arrested for drug possession, and made several attempts at rehab. She was also struggling with mental issues and was hospitalized. Cashmyer had her second daughter, Lyla, with her fiancé Michael Schaffer in June 2021.
Schaffer’s family started a GoFundMe in September 2021 to take care of Jordan and Lyla following Michael’s death. So far it has raised almost $7,900 out of a $10,000 goal. The GoFundMe for Jordan’s expenses and to raise Lyla has reached over $9,300 of a $15,000 at the moment.
