Tori Spelling has revealed how criticism from a young age has prepared her to deal with any online criticism that she has encountered.
Tori Spelling Admits She Has A ‘Pretty Thick Skin’ After Being In The Public Eye For So Long
Tori, for her part, was always going to be thrust into the limelight by virtue of the fact that her father Aaron Spelling was a well-known producer.
So when Tori made the decision to get into acting, coupled with the fact that she has become a reality TV star, it was not surprising to hear that she was subjected to media scrutiny.
But after having dealt with it for so long, it has now become second nature for her. During an interview with Fox News, Tori said: “I’ve been getting that since I was 16 since my career started, so, you know, I have pretty thick skin at this point.”
Nevertheless, Spelling recognises that it can get a little overwhelming from time to time. This is not surprising for the following reasons. First of all, her personal life has not done herself any favours.
Her current husband Dean McDermott had allegedly cheated on Tori, something which they decided to work out on reality TV on the show entitled ‘True Tori.’
Secondly, given that she does have five children, any mistakes that she did make were going to cast a negative eye on her kids’ lives.
She added: “It’s hard to deal with. I think at this point, I try not to read the negative comments, but I’m human. So, you know, sometimes I fall down that rabbit hole, but it’s just about letting it go.”
And yet, that was just the start. She expanded on how her parenting has been called into question by fellow mothers on social media.
Although it is true to say that parenting is not an exact science, it has not stopped people from casting aspersions about Tori on the basis of a few social media posts that they may have seen online.
She continued: “And when you see another female doing it [attacking]…you, and especially a lot of them, they’re moms, and they’ll be shaming your kid. It’s just mind-boggling to me to see that.”
