Eddie Kingston is a choke artist, if you ask Chris Jericho. After Kingston tried to drive a wedge between the leader of The Inner Circle and his old pals Santana & Ortiz – Jericho suddenly had something to prove. He would explain that it’s Kingston’s fault that he’s only becoming a star this late in his career, as his outlaw attitude makes him hard to work with. Add in that Kingston can never win ‘the big one’, and suddenly Jericho had no issues challenging Kingston for a special singles match tonight at Revolution.
Chris Jericho Brings Out His Dark Side Against Eddie Kingston
Kingston wasted no time getting to the ring and starting this fight – tossing Jericho with a Half & Half Suplex. Jericho was spiked on his head, and had to roll to the outside to recover. Kingston would drag him right back in, and the crowd was here for it – chanting for him to mess Jericho up.
Jericho would be able to get back into the fight, and hit some punches to the eye of Kingston. He’d be met with some hard chops from Kingston, with his chest quickly turning a nice shade of red. Kingston pushed Jericho into the corner with the Machine Gun Chops, before a poke to the eye and a DDT.
Kingston would bite Jericho to try and block a top rope Hurricanrana – but would be sent hard into the middle of the ring. Jericho would expose a corner, showing his heel side tonight – but got tossed with the Exploder Suplex all the same. The response would be a suplex off the apron, with Kingston crashing to the floor.
Back in the ring, Kingston threw a desperate Uraken, only to be caught with a series of German Suplexes – before Jericho hit the Lionsault for a two count. The crowd was seemingly split, but when Kingston showed some more fight they were back behind him – as he fought the Walls Of Jericho like a champ to reach the bottom rope.
Two backdrop drivers would be followed by the Uraken – but Jericho held on. Northern Lights Bomb would be attempted, but Kingston got a Codebreaker instead. A second Codebreaker would set up Judas Effect – but Jericho got the exposed corner instead! Two Urakens and a Stretch Plum later – and Jericho TAPS OUT!
Chaotic Action From The Opening Bell
Jurassic Express have been showing their skills in defence after defence of the AEW World Tag Team Championships. However tonight at AEW Revolution, they’re facing two of the greatest teams in the world. First to qualify was reDRagon, and the Young Bucks would follow. Both of these teams are aligned with Adam Cole, but haven’t exactly been able to get along since O’Reilly & Fish arrived in the company. Jurassic Express will have to hope for some Elite turmoil tonight if they want to remain champions.
Kyle O’Reilly would kick off the match against Jungle Boy – and was quickly getting outdone by the strikes of KOR. JB would have to avoid a cross armbreaker, before reDRagon hit a double armbreaker and kick. Bobby Fish. Keeping control of JB, he’d tag out to Young Bucks – showing some teamwork to take the champs out.
JB would manage a very impressive armdrag on Nick Jackson before a dropkick – and a much needed assist from Luchasarus. The ring would be cleared out, and JB hit a dive to the outside. JB would get caught in the ring with a double team Senton in the ropes.
Luchasarus was wiped out with the Wrecking Ball dropkick, before Young Bucks & reDRagon stomped him out. KOR stopped a pinfall in the ring – before reDRagon tore Jungle Boy down with knee strikes. This time, Nick Jackson broke up the pinfall – explaining that they agreed to beat down Jurassic Express first.
Nick would get a blind tag into the match, and Jungle Boy would hit the comebacker lariat to Fish on the outside – before dodging the attack of Young Bucks… and narrowly missing the tag to his partner. Things would break down between reDRagon and Young Bucks – and this allowed Luchasarus to finally get the tag.
Jurassic Express Fight For Their Lives
He’d take four men at once, hitting splashes in the corner to take out reDRagon, Tail Whips for Young Bucks, and a moonsault to the floor on reDRagon! Young Bucks would block a chokeslam, before Nick Jackson hit a destroyer.
Not an easy creature to keep down, Luchasarus would hit a double chokeslam, before one on Fish – and finally one on KOR to the back to Fish. JB tagged back in as he’d nail Doomsday Device on Nick Jackson for a two count. The Sliding Elbow strike would be avoided, before KOR hit the ring alongside Matt Jackson.
This one broke down in a hurry, and things normalised with KOR & JB in the ring. A knee strike to the jaw of JB would set up a tag team Wheelbarrow Suplex from reDRagon – getting the closest fall yet. Fish hit a Super Exploder Suplex, before KOR locked in a kneebar. Young Bucks would save the match but allow the tag to Luchasarus in the process.
JB would find his way back into the ring, and KOR would wipe him out with the title belt behind the back of the referee. HiLow would follow, but Luchasarus saved the match. Young Bucks would get into the ring and hit the BTE Trigger – but KOR broke the pinfall up.
More Bang For Your Buck was cancelled by JB, before the tag team powerbomb got the victory – meaning Jurassic Express remain champion!
